From my Great Grandfather: Photographs

Hello,

My Grandfather gave me this cutter the other day. It was origionaly owned by my Great Grandfather who lived in Johannesburg, South Africa. Although it is for very small ring rauge cigars and is now rusted over I thought the design was fantastic. It can either cut a V or a straight depending on where you place the cigar. The engraving is his personal initials.

That is really neat. Would be nice if they still made them.

Re: From my Great Grandfather: Photographs

That's very nice and even more so that it was once held by one of your Great Grandfathers. When you hold it and light a cigar you make a smokey bridge to the past. Perhaps it can be restored. Congratulations.

I have one similar that needs a little sharpening.

Re: From my Great Grandfather: Photographs

That is really sweet to have something like that. If only they still made them with a bigger ring rauge everyone would get them.

I have a pen knife from my great grand-dad but that cutter is really a treasure. Keep it safe and pass it on to your son or son-in-law.

Hey Richard,
Just curious, but what's the notch on the end of the handle for?

Nice cutters guys!

Re: From my Great Grandfather: Photographs

Awesome heirloom... I was given a similar one at Christmas that was a friend of mime. It was his Grandfathers and I love it. And use it for Torpedos and Belicosos. Use it and enjoy it.

Nice cutters guys!
For pulling nails from a box of cigars. See how that end is flattened, that's for prying the lid and cutting the paper seal
