I saw a ton of cheap torch lighters while browsing dealextreme.com Many of them have reviews and videos. A couple of bucks and free shipping. It may be worth a try.

Ewwwwww! I used a new Blazer today! The press-down starter button has a safety now - a little roller wheel thingie on the leading edge of the igniter button. You have to roll the wheel before you can press-to-ignite. Very... safe. Still one-handed operation. Still marked PB-207.

This is leading edge Blazer lighter crap, you all. You heard it first at CS.

Yep, that thing pissed off my brother-in-law when he got his. He pryed it out with a pair of needle-nosed pliers and "viola" - all children are in danger again.

My understanding is they actually aren't knock offs. Prince Blazer (hence the PB in PB207) is one company with Prince as the distributer in Asia and Blazer in the US. The are the same exact lighter with the exception on the child proofing and the label. If anyone has more knowledge on this perhaps they can clarify or correct me if I am misstaken.
YES. I have one of the Prince lighters. I got it in a group buy here a couple of years ago. I've used it daily since then and never had a problem. I even jumped in the lake with it, let it dry out in the sun for about an hour and it has performed perfectly. There is no child-proofing and the lid does have the PB-207 on it. I think the group buy was around $22.00 shipped from China. Everything about it is exactly like the Blazer except for what I stated earlier and the fact that it says "Prince Pocket Torch". Great lighter!!!

The one I linked is called the "Smokers Pocket Torch" and sells for $14.85 on the website I linked...I wonder if it's the same as your Prince.

Re: Blazer PB-207cr

Tired of spending money on expensive lighters that only work a short time so I bought the Ronson Jetlite. I found them at RiteAid and bought 4 for around $5 each. I have been using one for over a year and have not even opened the other packages. Now I can spend all the money on cigars.

Smokers Torch:
http://shop.vendio.com/targetrm/item.../?s=1219055622

Being the factoid, hyper-critical/hyper-skeptical, forensicator that I am, I needed to research these. I ordered one, and while it seems to be of similar, though not exactly the same, quality to the Blazer - it is in fact NOT related to Blazer in any way, form, or fashion. A quick email to Blazer confirmed, as well as emphasized why one should steer away from knock-offs. Now, to find a real Blazer and re-coup my losses.

"Hi Don,

Thank you for the e-mail.

That is not a Blazer Torch.
It’s an inferior knock-off made in China for about $1.50, hence the low cost.
Our items are made in Japan, not “the same factory in China”
We would never suggest buying them for obvious reasons.

There’s also a serious safety concern as well since it’s a poorly made item filled with butane that may sit in your pocket, car or home.
In our opinion, it’s not something you want lying around.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Thank you.

Best regards,

I have both a JetLite and a Blazer, and they're not even comparable. Both are fairly reliable. But the Blazer gives a more even flame, holds more butane, has an easy adjustable flame, and most of all, you can use it for minutes without it getting hot. The JetLites get really hot really fast.

I have a couple of those as well as Prince PB207s from HK.

I have found the cheap knockoff to be pretty good. I'd expect a representative from PB would suggest that competing knockoffs are inferior and dangerous, although I am surprised they didn't say that buying a knockoff would bring 6 years of bad luck.
