New Ashtray Really Makes a Difference

I have never had a nice ashtray because when I have cigar-related cash, I always buy cigars (exceptions being a Palio cutter and Blazer lighter from Mark at Cigarmony). A friend recently gifted me a Romeo y Julieta ceramic ashtry that's about 12" across, nice and deep, and has 3 perfectly inclined slots. Smoking with a proper ashtray is really nice, especially since the ceramic cleans up really well with a hot water wipe. It keeps the cigar burning evenly when I'm distracted and just looks great sitting there.

I'd have to agree there, smoking a cigar is all about the overall experience for me, and having a nice tray to let your cigar rest on makes it all that much better!

Yeah, I'm sure it helps the overall experience. I'm in the market for a nice ashtray (not TOO nice). Looking to spend $20-30. Any suggestions or thoughts?

Re: New Ashtray Really Makes a Difference

I got a great one on ebay. It is perfect for one smoker. It is stainless steel and is about 6' round with a rope handle and a great curved area for my cigar.

Re: New Ashtray Really Makes a Difference

My wife bought me this ashtray and its awesome Sweet Daddy Las Vegas retro vintage sweet daddies ashtray: Bars Cigars and Brew Store

And I have about 5 more LOL. Funny thing is when I'm smoking I hardly ever put the cigar down, I just hold on to it. And seeing that at home I only smoke outside I really don't even need one. But they are still cool to have.

If you have others that smoke with you its hard to beat a stinky Stinky Cigar Ashtrays from SeriousCigars.com just don't knock it around to much, the stirrups are know to break off.

Of course its hard to beat a Tommy Bahama ashtray. I have a single cigar one from them I got at the Big Smoke a couple years back and love it. Cigarware, Ashtrays, Cigar Cutter - Tommy Bahama

I made one out of a block of redheart wood, but I think a big ceramic one would be nice.

Re: New Ashtray Really Makes a Difference

Just bought a Padron ashtray myself. I had no idea what a cigar ashtray looked like until I opened the package and this monster came out! I guess I never really payed attention to the dimensions shown on the website.

Definitely loving having a proper one too. I've been making such a mess smoking up until now.

If you are looking for a ceramic one from a cigar company, try CBid. I have the Nat Sherman one from there that I got for $10 (plus shipping). They have been setting "Quick Buy" prices at $13.50 on a lot of the ones they are putting up. With shipping, that should come in right around your low end price if you "quick buy."

Just got a Black Cao "O" ashtray

Looks like this: CAO Black "O" 3 Cigar Ashtray - Polyvore

It should be at my doorstep today. Should be fine since I mostly smoke by myself. If I herfed a lot I'd get something bigger with more cigar rests like a stinky or just a bigger square one.

The bummer is that I bid on one at the devil site for $19 and the NEXT DAY I saw them on Joe's Jam for $15 shipped! So, lost $10 on that one ($19 + shipping), but oh well. It better not disappoint!

Re: New Ashtray Really Makes a Difference

I went to a local antique store. TONS of ashtrays. I ended up with 3 and the prices weren't too bad! Good luck!

Re: New Ashtray Really Makes a Difference

I also have a few Branded ash trays....they look so good I still use my old Flor De Copan Ash tray, and keep them unused-and looking good. The giant pint of Guinness does look good beside a nice ceramic tray though.
