1st Humidor?

Looking to buy my first humidor. I'm looking for one that holds 25-50 cigars for now. I would appreciate any suggestions. Also, any websites that have good deals on humidors. Thank you.

Re: 1st Humidor?

Check out cheaphumidors.com and look at the imperfects, always some good deals there. Here's a 10% off code that's good through this weekend, use it at checkout. VANM-HTMPD4 My advice is to buy the largest one you can afford, you'll soon find even that isn't big enough.

Re: 1st Humidor?

I would check Cbid. They usually always have some humis up for auction. Here are two right now. Cigarbid.com Auctions - Lot 791001
Cigarbid.com Auctions - Lot 791010

Re: 1st Humidor?

What they said. Get the biggest you can afford. 25 is only a box. Soon you will be buying more than that.

Re: 1st Humidor?

Listen to the wise ones. I built my first one to hold 100-150 and am already planning the second one. That said, if funds only allow a small one, you can later reserve it for dry boxing or segregating cigars.

Re: 1st Humidor?

I agree with the others.

I would advise to everyone starting out to get no less than a 2000 ct humi.

No, seriously though, even a 100 ct humi will fill up very very fast unless you have some serious willpower.

If you have the time to bid on cbid, the 5vegas 100 ct humis can usually be had for around $40 bucks. They are very nice.

Re: 1st Humidor?

25-50 ct humi is pretty small.

But, you could use it as a travel or desk humi down the road.

I got the cinco vegas tradition humidor for I think 41 dollars on cbid.
So far its my favorite. It smells the nicest, and has retained its smell, and very well moderation of the rh. Must have good wood in it. Remember you will need to buy a digital hygo for it, as the one it has (at least the one I got with it) never functioned. I keep it in for appearances. If you need photos, just ask,
Nice humi

Jerry

Re: 1st Humidor?

I'm on my third humi and I started with 100 count two years ago. Get a 150-200 for now. Trust me.

Re: 1st Humidor?

I have 2, 120 counts almost filled to the brim and I use a small rubbermaid box for the overflow such as when new shipments arrive, but I try to keep it around the same level, but sometimes the urge hits and you just have to get more.

Re: 1st Humidor?

Have to agree with all the others on going larger on the humi - I started with a 50, and in no time went to a treasure dome which is now also full. Whatever you get make sure to give it time to season well - when you think it's right, give it more time before putting your cigars in. Check the threads on seasoning - lots of advice already there.

Re: 1st Humidor?

I wouldn't even mess around with a traditional (wood) humidor. Get yourself a cooler and some beads. Much easier for a beginner to get it up and running. Also much easier to maintain. And it's cheaper. A better choice all around.

Re: 1st Humidor?

I just got my first humi on order. Should get in tomorrow. A 90 count from Craftsman's Bench. I looked a lot, and that brand seemed to be a good quality-value purchase....hopefully anyway.
