Question Small Humidor Fans - Battery Operated

I recall reading something about a small, battery operated fan that works well in humidors. I believe it timed itself and only turned on for a few minutes every so often. I completed several searches but cannot locate that information on CS.

Does anyone have any information of such an item or something similar?

Lots of people have been using the Oust fans. Might be what your thinking about.

Re: Small Humidor Fans - Battery Operated

Yea, I use an Oust fan in my cabinet humidor with a Cigar Oasis XL Plus just for some extra airflow.

Turns on for 5 mins, then off for 15. Runs on a single D cell battery which supposedly lasts for a few months. Sometimes the timing can be inaccurate, but it gets the job done.

You can get it for $7.99 regular price.

Not unless you have a really big humi. Not really necessary until you hit medium cooler size, I don't even think you need one in a vicksburg or 500 count humi.

I have the wine-coolerdor and you need one for those.

I liked the idea of the Oasis circulating when I had the Vicksburg. That is a big humi, coupled with those four trays, nice to have circulation.

Where do you guys get these Oust fans?

Target, CVS, Rite-Aid, Duane Reade, Walmart, etc

Look in the air fresheners section.

I was thinking about getting a Vicksburg- probably for christmas. Wondering if one of these would be good for that. Where would you place it?

Re: Small Humidor Fans - Battery Operated

You can homebrew your own Acid cigars by adding the oust scent to the fan.

Re: Small Humidor Fans - Battery Operated

I read something about battery gases being a concern... Is there anything to that or is it just a myth?

I'm building a Edison-A-Dor and am thinking about using a fan from a copier - but if batteries around cigars are ok then I may opt for the Oust fans.
