Tell Henry that, though he's could probably unplug a cigar in his sleep, the rest of us poor saps have to practice a bit. Until he figures out a way for the tools to work themselves, or to be idiot proof, or both, practice makes perfect.

Tell Henry that however they turn out, those tools will be my most prized possession. There's something special about things that are made by hand, with ample amounts of sweat, bloody knuckes and cursing.

Not much practice needed really. The first time I used mine I tried doing multiple holes on an EPI#2 and ended up ripping it open like the Titanic. The stick would have probably been a loss anyway since I had clipped it a couple months before and tossed it back in the humi because the draw was so tight. Since then I've saved a couple smokes. Slow and easy with a twisting motion. Thanks Henry

Henry's "reading material" these days consists of three basic "mental food groups": The sports pages; his fishing magazines; notes that I print from Club Stogie.

Funny... I asked him last week whether he thought it might be worthwhile to patent his tool sets. His response was characteristically "Henry," and it made perfect sense: "Don't be a dim-wit, Steve! ANY a#$hole can patent a design! We're talking 'workmanship' here... Try patenting THAT, and you're pissing in the wind!"

AHH WELL... Here's what's happening:

1. Henry has promised us 12 Special Edition sets per week, beginning on Monday, 10/23. Embossing and protective coating/curing take about three days.

2. We will PM those who've reserved SE tool sets (list below) to advise of pricing, shipping, confirm orders, advise on methods of payment, and provide our email address for confirmations (DON'T want to clutter up CS with that crap).

3. We will update the reservation list on this thread, based on transactions completed or in-process.

You're ON (please see updated reservaton list). It seems that Henry's going to be busy through November on the SE sets (in addition to the "Classic" sets). He's committed to 12-15 of the SE sets per week (in order to come through in ample time for Christmas). I'll probably slow down his "production," in that I have a couple of boxes of cigars for him, and we'll need some time time to sample the sticks!!!

For what it's worth, Henry is IN HIS GLORY...

For every two handles he embosses, he pitches one into the warming stove... We have a cigar together... We talk... And through the haze of smoke out in his work shed, I seem always to come home with a new lesson.

Well... It looks as though we're just a couple of reservations shy of closing out the 2006 Special Edition. An updated reservation list appears below. Those with the notation, "CONTACTED" are those whom we have PM'd and invited to place an order. We're limiting these follow-up contacts to 12-15 per week, so that we don't get too far ahead of Henry's pace, and so that we're not asking for payment on something that won't be shipped within a week or so.

Please note that we will be away and unable to correspond until Sunday, 10/22. We will pick up where we left off.

THANKS for your interest in the Special Edition tool sets!

We are currently proccessing exisiting reservations for these sets, and can no longer accept additional reservations until actual "orders" for the 2006 personalized tool sets have been verified and processed. Availability may change, based on the number of orders processed.

For what it's worth... We will be offering a new issue of Henry's "Classic" Tool Sets within a day or two. They will not be personalized... However, Henry has come up with a very nice selection of hand-rubbed wooden handle tones: Maple (the "original"); Walnut (deep & rich); Cherry (red & grainy), Ebony (wood grain perceptible through a rich, deep, dark finish).

IF a Special Edition reservation is cancelled, or does not result in an aorder, we will allert you.
