If anyone has any more suggestions on keeping my stogies fresh in a 5ct otterbox lemmie know (especially if it includes beads)
I put beads in the little disc in my 5ct.

I have a 10 count Otterbox/Cigar Caddy and I have to agree it is amazing. One of my buddies kept telling my I should get one and he raved on and on about how it was virtually indestructible. After picking up one for myself I have to agree it certainly does seem indestructible.

Cut out a sheet or two of bubble wrap and just lay it in there. Keeps the TPCs sitting next to the DCs snug.

I always use my 5 count otter box to store my daily supply of stogies, but instead of adding water to the crappy built in humi-sponge thingy, I keep a single Drymistat Tube inside, which I fill maybe once a month. I also velcro'd a cutter to the top of the case.

I also have the 15 count. Since it's airtight, I never use humidification. It's not needed unless you are going to store them in there long-term. They are great units!

i used to think it'd be airtight, as well, but i ran a few tests a while back and found that it isn't actually airtight. still, i'd agree that if you're only gonna be away with it for a few days, then you're not in much danger. otherwise, if you're gonna be gone for weeks, use a humidification device.

You must have gotten a bad one, 'cause mine is definatly air tight and I checked several in my b&m and they are too. I take a balloon and blow it up, place it inside the unit and poke a pinhole in it and close the unit quickly before all the air escapes the balloon. Let it sit for a while and then open it up. The balloon was not deflated, telling me no air could escape. However, all the ones I tested were the 15 count.

I just re-read this and I forgot to add the after deflated. Sorry 'bout that. It's been four hours and I'm surprised nobody asked how I would have poked a pinhole in a balloon and it not bursting.

But seriously, I do believe mine(15 count) is airtight. In any case, we agree that for a week or two there should be no problems but for long-term storage a humidifier is needed, of course.

Re: Otterbox 05 Count - Review

My bro got me a 15ct for my bday this year. I friggin love it. I usually hold only 2-5 sticks in it, but we'll be filling it up for our roadtrip in a couple weeks. I have put it through quite the rigorous testing when it comes to everyday beatings. Pretty sure I could fire a gun at it and my cigars would just laugh and point.

Re: Otterbox 05 Count - Review

I removed the humidity disk in the top, and pulled back the piece of foam in the top, and behind that I put a small piece of humidity sheet. Just a little upgrade.

Re: Otterbox 05 Count - Review

I brought my 10 count to a recent trip to Bermuda. This thing is terrific! Did need to use a dime to get the thing open after the flight (as they suggested), showing how air-tight these really are. I also packed a Western Digital inside and the case did keep the humidity around 65% all week (of course, Bermuda is a pretty humid island).

Funny thing is that on my trip home (after I had smoked all the cigars that I came down with), they searched my carry-on bag THREE TIMES at the airport. They looked at the contents of my carry-on bag, one inspector even went thoroughly though my business papers (can't imagine why), but no one EVER looked inside the 10-count cigar case!! Anyway, the case is great!

Re: Otterbox 05 Count - Review

Great product and just like pringles, you can't just stop at one. Picked up the 2 count for trips the the course or range, the 5 count stays in my desk at work M-F, and the 10 count goes on longer trips. With the combo of all three, I can handle up to 2 weeks on the road.
Great product !!!
