Vegas Robainas have a very unique style of their own. I was smoking one at last year's Big Smoke and one of the vendors knew right away what I was smoking. He told me he recognized the aroma as I walked by. The flavor is similar to what Cuban cigars were originally. They are blended in the tradition that appeals to Cubans and Spaniards... that is you will notice them to taste like tobacco that is tannic and salty. I have some 2004 Don Alejandros that are just now coming into their own. They are beginning to exhibit some pepper and nut flavors.
The Familiars are probably the mildest of the VRs. Most Americans do not like VRs because of the tannins and the dominant tobacco flavor.
