Re: need to know tobacco characteristics

You might have better luck finding your answers one country at a time. Start with a list of countries and perhaps others will help fill in the blanks. You might end up with a very unique and helpful document. Remember that many countries have different regions known for varaitions in leaf characteristics, that have been evolving over time...but you should be able to compile a general consensus.

Good luck,

Richard

I may be wrong, but I don't think a taste is necessarily attributed to any particular country. Woody, earthy, chocolaty, spicy, peppery characteristics come from each of the cigar producing countries. Though If I'm wrong i know there is a gorrila here that can set us both right.

Your not wrong at all, in fact your exactly correct....It's like saying all cubans are peppery...which of course they are not...same goes for all countries....If all domincans or Nic's, tasted of coffee and chocolate I may smoke them....

Thankx for all your reponces. A list would have been better idea and I shouln't have said "taste", what ment by character was strong 'mild, bitter, salty ect. Countries are: Cuba, DR, Nig, Hond. What are some puros from each country?

Here is another approach. If I understand what you are asking.

Chapter 10 of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Cigars by Tad Gage has a section titled "Unique tobaccos from around the world" it covers the generalities that you might be seeking.

The book was an enjoyable read especially with cigar in hand

Hope that helps.
