Need some help chosing a cigar for my father. The problem for me is accomodating his preferences. He only likes mild smokes. Nothing spicy or peppery. Prefers smaller sizes. Something in the range of 4-5 inch and 38-45 ring gauge. Also, he dosn't really appreciate high-end cigars. If I were to tell him he was smoking a $5 stick, he would tell me off for buying something so expensive. So I guess I need to find something in the 1-2 dollar range. Basically a decent everyday smoke that meets the previous parameters.
Thanks, Jeff |

Re: Recommendations Needed
Gispert is a nice, mild but flavorful smoke. Great with morning coffee, or for anyone who just likes mild cigars.

My Dad smokes the sh*t outta these. Garcia Y Vega English Corona and actually thery're not that bad a cigar. Mixed filler, they're even reviewed at top25. For 0.60-0.80 a pop, you can't go to far wrong! Can pick 'em up almost anywhere, Wal-Mart has them. Come in a plastic tube so they're usually fresh.

Re: Recommendations Needed
I find the Cuesta Ray very mild and good smoke....I like the Centario #60, but they make the line in smaller sizes.

Re: Recommendations Needed
I like the Monte #4 ($3). Great little smoke. Also, today I had an Aristoff Minor. $2 at JR in-store. Very enjoyable.

Re: Recommendations Needed
Look for Old Fashioned Dominican bundles in his size preference; these are Macanudo/Partagas seconds. The old fashioned Honduran seconds will be stronger cigars.
The Chicos might be ideal, but get the Natural ones(seconds of Macanudo Ascots), not Cameroon (which are Partagas Puritos). You can get 100 4" x 32 gauge long filler cigars in a cardboard box for around $23 from smokeall. These are just small cigars not pretty enough for the tins. The #500 would be a Macanudo Petite Corona second, 5"x 38 ring gauge (bundle of 20) in the $25 - $30 range. Any Old Fashioned Bundle with a 3 digit number as its name will be a Macanudo second. Old Fashioned passed up Flor de Oliva as the #1 selling bundled cigar in the US last year, so these can't be that far off the much more expensive Macanudo 1sts. Another decent one would be "Magellan Dominican" bundles you can get from Cigars International/CigarBid - also dirt cheap. Its a nice Petit Corona vitola and many mild cigar smokers love them. Too mild to me, but not bad at all. -Matt- |

Re: Recommendations Needed
ever consider buying a tin of 10 cigars. alo of company's make them and i think they taste great.you can give him one of the cigars out of that since theyre all individually wrapped and it'll cost you around 10$ for 10 cigars
i recommend the arturo fuente cubanito's
