Just turned 18, know nothing about cigars
Well, one of my friends bought me a cigar it says "Cuesta Rey" and "Centenario" on it.
I was wondering how long it would last in the little metal tube. I opened it when i got it, which may not be very bright, but I didn't know how hard they were to keep fresh until I browsed around the net. I was wondering when i should smoke it by? I still live at home and my mom absolutely despises smoke, so I have to wait for her to leave or go somewhere else. How long do you think it will stay "good" as is? I've always loved the smell of cigars. My dad and uncles smoked them on occasion (not often, but every once and a while) and I've always wanted to try one. |

A week or two if it doesn't get too hot.

Re: Just turned 18, know nothing about cigars
Welcome to club stogie.
I don't smoke in the house, outta respect for the misses. Choose the option "go somewhere else" - ya never know who you might meet there. Oh, and Trishield is right ... a week or so (without heat). |

Re: Just turned 18, know nothing about cigars
Take a paper towel, fold it up and squeeze all the water out, you just want it to be barely damp, put the damp paper towel and the cigar still sealed in the tube into a zip lock bag, with the tube sealed, and you should be fine for a week or two.
enjoy the smoke... Last edited by Dgar; 10-29-2007 at 09:25 AM.. Reason: *** |

Re: Just turned 18, know nothing about cigars
A plastic bag/plastic-tupperware and a sponge/paper towel will make it last a lot longer. And if you can't smoke at/around home, head to your nearest B&M and start making some friends.

Re: Just turned 18, know nothing about cigars
Welcome to the jungle. Go enjoy your cigar outside with a friend, that's the best way to smoke a cigar.
Go introduce yourself in the New Gorillas forum. Let us know where you are from.

Re: Just turned 18, know nothing about cigars
Definitely go smoke that stogie outside or at your friends. If mom doesn't like smoke she'll have a nose for it lingering in the air and than you're busted.

Re: Just turned 18, know nothing about cigars
Well, I smoked it.
I think it went well. It took me a while to get it light evenly. At first, it didn't have much taste. About 1/4 into it though, the taste seemed to get stronger. I really enjoyed blowing the smoke out. ![]() It seemed to me most of the taste came after I blew the smoke. I don't know how this cigar compares to others, but I was surprised by how light the taste was. It was good. I definitely liked it, but it seems more like something to accompany something. Like when playing a game or talking or something. I can't imagine myself smoking by myself again. I didn't know what to do with it when it was almost gone. I was outside without an ash tray...so I just put it out on the ground. |
