Re: La Aroma De Cuba?
I've often thought the same thing. On some cigars, the tar flavor gets too much for me about 1/2 inch before the band. It is a testament to the modern American palate when some of us can no longer taste the subtle flavors of a milder smoke, but enjoy the "full bodied" taste of tar. I also never understood the desireability of a "nicotine buzz". I was always under the impression that the purpose of fermenting the leaves and aging the cigar was to reduce the tar and get the nicotine, ammonia and other poisons OUT of the cigar. Some people speak of the nicotine buzz as being a good thing. I see it as improper curing of the leaf. Some of the best tasting cigars that I have smoked leave me with no buzz at all, just the satisfaction of an excellent tasting smoke.
Back on the subject of the thread; I have noticed the Aromas to be an excellent tasting smoke for the most part. They are tightly packed and very well constructed, with one of the most beautiful bands out there. But like a lot of tightly packed smokes, I do notice the tar build up pretty heavy around the band. I seldom smoke one of these more than 2/3 of the way. However, I don't shed any tears over this since for the price, I still believe that I get my money's worth.
BTW - this is not a zing on any post on this thread. Just something in the back of my head for the last couple of months. I fully realize and respect the fact that taste is a very subjective thing, and one man's shite is another man's sugar.
