No, just kidding. Here is my 4 cents worth. Leave your cigars in the cello. If you want them to breathe, do what I do and cut the fold off, leaving the end open, kinda just like the cigar itself, neato. BUT be careful, as this can be damaging to your naked smokes...those cut ends can tear unprotected leaves. But that's what I did for years, and all of the smokes I did it with are as tasty as they were the day I got them, but aged and well preserved. NOW, there is a nameless expert who has compared Havanas in the 25+ year old range, and he has tasted the same cigar brand/size from boxes with and without cello, and hands down he always says that the cello sticks taste much better. I believe about half of what he says most of the time, but I can't argue with him there. I have some Don Carlos robustos that got the snip treatment, and they are over ten years old. They are better today than they were new. THE 10+ year old one I had slipped out of the cello back then was lifeless and tasteless. the cello ones smell so intoxicatingly good it is near unbelievable. I used to get home from the store and uncello everything. what a chump I was

Re: in the wrap or in the NUDE?

Personally, I am making the switch from nude to wrapped. I, like others that have written that they prefer to have their sticks nude 'cause they look better, and may age some cigars better when unwrapped, I recently (about a month ago) found a torpedo cigar that was still wrapped in the cello with a beetle crawling around inside the wrapper. Because the wrapper was still on the cigar, the beetle was confined to that cigar. I emptied the humi, checked the inside as well as every cigar, and was confident that the infestation was confined to that single, wrapped cigar. So I tossed that stick and haven't seen any other problems since.

My rule now is – if it comes wrapped I'll leave it on, otherwise it goes in nude.

I used to keep my cigars in the nude, but now I'm a changed man. I damaged a few wrappers moving sticks around, so now I keep the wrapper on.

I store my cigars both ways. In my coolerdor I leave the wrap on. In my cedar lined humidors I undress my smokes. I will be trying my hand at aging. My thoughts on handling them is to generally treat them well and damage will not occur.

Re: in the wrap or in the NUDE?

I leave most of them in the cello for storage... Howver there are a few that I'll leave naked in there, just because they're better to look at that way. These include my Padron Anny's and similar cigars.

Re: in the wrap or in the NUDE?

i cut the foot ends off the wrappers with a pair of scissors or a razor knife (whatever's handy). my guess is that it protects the stick from abrasion while allowing some air and humitity to circulate. it also seems to allow flavors to meld somewhat ... at least over the three year period i've been storing cigars that way. not the best way to display a cigar, however.

better yet, i stick some sticks into glass tubes (caps off) in the humidor. this really gives a good visual as you can clearly see the gar in all its naked beauty and still get the benefits described above. (i'll know i've gone off the deep end when i start polishing the tubes to keep 'em all shiny inside and out. har!)

thing is ... real glass cigar tubes are not all that easy to come by without smoking a lot of the cigars inside them. test tubes don't really do it for me. i eventually want to accumulate enough tubes to use this storage solution exclusively. ideally, some that will fit to to a 52.
