Re: Recovering Cigars

Just a little update. The ArmNHammer that I ended up getting was the fridge version with the suction cup. It has been in there for a little while and is DEFINATELY making a difference. I smoked a cigar out of the cooler the other day. It is definately smokey... less smelly though.

Any effect on the RH? I'd worry about the ArmNHammer sucking up the RH as well as the smell?

Re: Recovering Cigars

I may have missed it from the thread, but does your insurance cover cigars? You could possibly buy a whole new stash while retaining any of the smokeable sticks from the fire.

No, they dont cover tobacco, if they did they keep what they replace.

So far no effect on RH at all.

Re: Recovering Cigars

A thought came to my mind while reading this thread. Maybe adding a few fresh tobacco leafs for the cigars to rest on may help extract the smoke from the cigars and transfer to the lose leafs. Some brands of cigars come packed with lose leafs packed around the cigars. My way of thinking tells me that with extra leafs, this will help spread out the smell of the smoke and even add a bit of freshness to the cigars.

Just my two cents. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Re: Recovering Cigars

try to find an ionized filter. we have 3 huge Smokeeters that do a pretty good job at filtering the smoke out of the air and they have ionized filters in them. it may help the cigars if the filter is left in the humidor with the cigars to clean the air inside. best of luck to you.

This sound like a good idea... Doesn't Gurkha have some lines that come with lots of loose tobacco inside like the Shaggy?

Re: Recovering Cigars

Just an update, the smell on the cigars now is great! Not quite what it used to be but 1000 times better. I have started moving a few cigars at a time in with some others as a test and they continue to improve. They still smoke a bit off but hey...

Re: Recovering Cigars

That's great news Jeff. I'm thrilled for you. When those cigars recover, you are going to have a great stash. I'm thrilled for you my friend.

BTW, when I read the title of this thread I didn't know what to think. A cigar in recovery was a little confusing to me. "Hello, my name is Opus..." "Hello, Opus..."
