Regular paper and scotch tape

So after reading a thread a while back about labeling cigars I decided to give up on the handwritten labels... even though the bland labels are very affordable, easy to use and excellent... I am just a little to anal, and OCD. So when I saw the pic of baglorious's labels I scraped mine and started new. So after some fooling around I got the size down for some different ring gauges and the layout.
1st line is where/who the cigar came from.
2nd line is the brand and name (DPG Blue Imperiales)
3rd line is the shape and size (Torpedo 6.1x52)
4th line is the date I received the cigar, unless I know the actual date of it.

I don't have a pic on me, I was planing on starting this thread when I got home but I am at school now, and we are having a blizzard. There are 10 kids in school none of which I work with so I am hiding out in my office!! I will post a pic of my labels when I get home.

So I got more work to do, as I still have a few cigars that I don't know what that are. BUT my question is this, does anyone know if using regular paper and scotch tape for these labels would hurt the cigars? The taoe does not touch the cigar, just the paper. I know that it will not hurt for short term... but what if I was going to put some down for a long sleep... would the paper/tape combo hurt if left in a humidor with 65% for years?

If so any suggestions as to what type of paper would be ok... I need one that I can print to (laser printer)

Thanks in advance

I had a question about band material in general. Does the paper soak up the oils in the wrapper, or is this a non issue?

Re: Regular paper and scotch tape

Ya, so my wife just laughed at me (and continues to laugh at me still), as my spelling and grammar basically suck. She is the English teacher after all... so I meant to say in my OP blank not bland... and the big one just then... "thanks for bring it up" should read "thanks for bringing it up." She is a little hard on me and said she should proof read my posts!!

See this is what happens on days when we have no students, my wife lurks over my shoulder saying things like...

"there is a U in sholder, dumbass"
"Put a period before your quotes"
"maybe you should come to my high school English class"

I have to stop now.. this is making me feel stupid

Re: Regular paper and scotch tape

I wouldn't worry about it. After all, cigar bands are paper .... and Fuente (for one) uses tape to secure the cedar wraps & the fabric foot bands on their stogies.

I'd worry more about where the roller's hands had been personally ... but if I did that, I wouldn't want to put them in my mouth ... so I don't worry and all is well

I used to work in a pulp and paper mill. We made liner board (the outside layers of cardboard boxes). I worked in the pulp division and some of the chemicals we used were pretty toxic. We washed most of the chems out but different ones were added in the paper division where they processed it into paper. If you used a paper that was made for food products you should be OK.

[SIZE=2]Personally, I wouldn't use it. The white paper bags that restuarants and bakery's use would be my choice if I were going that route. Butcher paper might be the best choice.

ya, I was afraid that there would be a problem. I guess I will have to search another type of paper. I don't have much of a selection up here. Any ideas guys?

Can I make a suggestion? Don't obsess-just smoke em and enjoy. They are much more relaxing that way. I have the same ocd tendencies and struggle to not obsess.

Re: Regular paper and scotch tape

I put regular paper and tape on a lot of my cigars for bands, and it doesn't seem to hurt anything.
