Beetle Damage???

Is this beetle damage? I was going through my humi at work this morning and I saw little black specs everywhere, so I investigated and found this little hole. No traces on any other cigars. If this is beetles what should I do? Pop evrything in the freezer???

Re: Beetle Damage???

If it's a hole it's a beetle......throw out the cigar, check your remaining stock, freeze, consider new humidor

Re: Beetle Damage???

Oh well, hopefully it is only the one. I don't see any damage on any others orbeetle poo. I will put the remaining 15 or so in the freezer. How long do they need to stay in the freezer? I wil toss out the humi. It was a freebie I got from CI when I started smoking again. GUess I better start shiopping for a new work humi.

Thanks,

Chris

I mostly agree, given that the average household freezer is around 12 degrees below zero Celsius (sorry don't know the F I am Canadian)

I would go 24 in the Fridge, 48 in the Freezer, and 24 in the Fridge.

I recently had a beetle eat a Cohiba, I put all of my Gars in the freezer and they smoke just as good as when they went in.

Good luck,

Re: Beetle Damage???

Just dont go straight to the freezer with them it could cause damage. Just follow silverfox67 and I and you will be ok bud. To be on the safe side I would agree with the 24, 48, 24 method.

x2

That's the timeframe that I would use as well. You want to make sure they come down to a reasonable amount of temp after freezing before you humidify. It will make them less likely to swell and crack.

Re: Beetle Damage???

No need for a new humi. Just be sure to clean it out really well.

Are those last minute entries in the Gurkha blind taste challenge? I bet they won't waver from their preconcieved feelings.
