Re: Relighting a cigar
I have a couple of metal cigar tubes that I use to save a smoke until the next. I'll blow smoke through the cigar first, to purge the middle, then let it sit and go out on its own. Then i'll come back later and place it in the tube to keep it safe from splits, tears, or drying out. Usually works well, but if it's longer than the next day, I let it go and simply get a new cigar.

Re: Relighting a cigar
I have tried to relit the cigar the next day but hasnt worked for me. A few hours have been ok, but also I first purged the cigar and let it go on its own. But I have seen people relit their cigars and think they are still great. So as it was said before if you think its good then its good.

Re: Relighting a cigar
Believe it or not, I smoked one of my RyJ Churchill's days after I started it and it was as good as new. I smoked half of it, put it out, clipped it about 1/2" down, put it back in its tube, and lit it up again a few days later when I was fishing (after purging of course).

Todd, Todd, Todd... sure life is great. But, but, but... you were FISHING for crying out loud! That dried out two year old El Producto stuck to a ballpoint pen from a long-ago spilled Dr. Pepper that you found in the back of the glove compartment (forgotten after the Spring Formal, 1996) can taste good when you're FISHING! I mean, who hasn't actually smoked one of those, at least once? I got real poetic and kinda misty eyed about a Wolf Bros. Crookette once when a bunch of Ontario pike were smack-dab slamming topwater crankbaits (I'm talking a Zara Spook mini, walk-the-dog, topwater monster hook smashing event) in the weedbeds as the sun got low and the skeeters came out. So the question is, would the RyJ have tasted just as good sitting on the back porch while reading the want ads? Shoot... I'd probably enjoy smoking a lifejacket if I was fishing. Details? Where were you fishing? What did (or did not) you catch? Jigging, topwater, worms, bobbers? Alone or with a friend? Raining or clear? Bugs or bugless? Boat or shore? Ocean, lake. stream or pond? Open face, baitcaster or flyrod (or dynamite - it happens, no shame there)? All these things have to figure in with a "days" old cigar. Would you please fill in the blanks on this. (I haven't been fishing all year - that's what this is all about.)

Never the same after you relight, but still find myself doing the same thing once in a while. Sometimes I don't even have time to finish a PC.

Re: Relighting a cigar
lol, ok...
Where were you fishing? Buckeye Lake in Ohio. What did (or did not) you catch? Catfish. Largest one was about 18" long and maybe 3 lbs. Jigging, topwater, worms, bobbers? Nightcrawlers and chicken livers -- no bobbers. Alone or with a friend? With a friend. Raining or clear? Clear, cool. Bugs or bugless? Bugless. Boat or shore? Shore. Although many times we did go out on the boat, at which time I also enjoyed many fine cigars. Ocean, lake. stream or pond? Lake, as in Buckeye Lake. ![]() Open face, baitcaster or flyrod (or dynamite - it happens, no shame there)? Baitcaster. Wanna go fishing sometime bro? ![]() |

Thanks for the invite - sounds great. You a good man! If you're in NC, stop by my little pond - you bring rubber worms and I'll have some fresh cigars. ![]()

Re: Relighting a cigar
To each his own. I personally don't relight my cigars if they go out. Even purging the cigar just doesn't do it for me and I would rather start with a fresh stick. But if it works for you... go for it.

Re: Relighting a cigar
I got a trick from the hottie Rocky Patel rep at a recent tasting. Knock as much ash as possible from the stick. Heat the end up REALLY well with a torch to get the tobacco thoroughly warmed up before you draw. If you managed to pruge the gar before it went out, all the better.
I've tried this several times with different sticks, and each one was as excellent tasting as it was when first lit up. I hate to waste good smokes. Johan
