Good Replacement for Opus X 2005
Hello and I am looking for some ideas for a Celebration Smoke. Next month will be my 10year Anniversary and I am looking for a nice Cigar to replace my Opus X 2005 for my Anniversary Smoke??? I am looking at trying to spend under 50 each. I am looking for Information only. Please don't post buy these from me replies. I am looking for something that has a nice even draw 9 out of 10 times, will last 1hr 15min to 1hr 30min. I want something smooth and with a nice finnish. All ideas would be great and will post a review on it a day or 2 after my Anniversary seeing I am not 100% sure what my wife has going. Needed to get a passport though.

Re: Good Replacement for Opus X 2005
That's my initial reaction as well.
Here are some alternatives, although not as good as the Padron 80th. LFD Serie R from a plethora of years available, from 2003-2007 are pricey. CAO Soprano "Tony Soprano Signature" Ashton VSG Round. Rare and a really good smoke. They are from the frist run of the VSG and they were too full of tabacco and would not hold a box press so they could not sell them. All of the top brass of Ashton carry them and love 'em. Another Opus? ISOM?

James,
Off the top of my head you could get Stradivarius, I'd also second the 80th, a Cohiba Esplendido, any of the regional release 109s, Davidoff Diademas Finas, pre-embargo havana anything or a Anejo Cammy Shark.

Re: Good Replacement for Opus X 2005
You've gotten some good suggestions, for some great cigars. You probably aren't going to find any Opus from 2005, but there are other Opus X around....
Although, here's another suggestion though. Your 10th Anniversary? How about the new Camacho 10th Anniversary??? Here's a link to a place you can get a 3-pack of any size for under $40. http://www.cheapercigars.com/Camacho...ry-Cigars.html

Re: Good Replacement for Opus X 2005
Litto Gomez Small Batch #1 - ~$17 - $20
Litto Gomez Diaz Lucitano Toro - ~$10 - $12 Litto Gomez's La Flor Dominicana doesn't have the hype that Fuente cigars do right now, but their products are just as good or better than most of what the Fuentes make. The Litto Gomez line of cigars, like OpusX, are Dominican Puros made with the best leaves the family can grow. I find LG cigars preferable to Opus when young/new. To be honest I haven't been able to hold on to a LG until aged to compare it to an aged Opus. -Matt- |

If you can still find it, the La Aurora 100 Anos. I liked them much better than the opus to be honest.
Very off topic here, but why are you using another members custom avatar as yours? |

I believe Holt's still has some Oh they do and here's a link. Looks like you can also get a 4 cigar sampler for $50 http://www.holts.com/category.html?i...76&trail=86665

Re: Good Replacement for Opus X 2005
I find that my Litto Gomez Diez Lusitanios are a very good Dom puro that tastes a bit like those higher-end Fuentes. I like the LG's more though, Opus never knocked my socks off. Every LG i've smoked has been top-notch. I have also heard that the 100 Anos is Opus-like in taste and complexity.

I vote for a Padron 1926 Anniversary.

Re: Good Replacement for Opus X 2005
I would have to agree on the consensus here on the 80 yr Padron's. Unless you can get some quality cubans. Actually the Padron's rival most cubans these days.
