La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Chisel: every one that I've smoked has kicked my ass (no puking or having to lay down, but a definite buzz).

Re: Best nicotine buzz

I get a good buzz very rarely. However, under certain circumstances and on an empty stomach, the following have been known to put a silly smile on my face: LfD DL Chisel, JdN Antano (any of them), BBF.

Re: Best nicotine buzz

I had some El Rico Habanos that were pretty stiff..........I think the natties are stiffer, but the maddies will make your head spin on an empty stomach as well.

If you're sticking to domestics, I would get the ERH's or perhaps the JdN Antano Beli or the Camacho 11/18.

If you're going ISOM, I would recommend the RnJ Cazadores. I had some older Partagas Lusi's that were fairly strong; however, I've been told in recent years, they've weakened a bit.

Any Quintero I have had has been harsh and strong, perhaps Panetelas is a good example. Haven't had a Quintero in like 10 years, but it left an impression. Maybe it's not as strong to me now?

The best buzz is one that does not happen. I consider a "nicotine buzz" a sign of a insufficiently aged or poorly cured tobacco. If you want buzz, eat a Nicorette or two.

Probably more right than not. There is always the % Ligero argument. Nicotine fades with age. Now lithium, thats a buzz of a whole different country.

AGREED! slight pulsation of the temples, feeling of contentment are what it should be about, not room spinning nausea.

Well, that depends on who's bullshit you want to believe. I'll give you mine and you can take it or leave it.

In my OPINION, a good cigar burns evenly, has a cool smoke, burns slowly, and leaves you happy and contented, not sick and with a spinning head. Most of the better (again, an OPINION) cigars that I have smoked use dark, well fermented leaves and have a bit of age on them. Some of the leaves are aged for better than 10 years before use (Don Carlos comes to mind). All tobacco contains nicotine. However, the fermenting process removes from 20 to 90% (again, who's bullshit do you want to believe) of the natural nicotine as well as most of the other volitile chemicals natural to tobacco. So, a good slow burning, well fermented and aged cigar should not deliver a lot of nicotine to your system.

Another issue is how you smoke them. I consider the rear half of a cigar to be a filter, and that is why I am not a big fan of the shorter cigars like the robusto. I tend to only smoke the first 2/3 of a cigar. I'll go more only if I do not notice a buildup of tar (bitter) or nicotine (buzz). I smoke cigars to enjoy them, not to poison myself. For me, cigar smoking is all about smooth and calm, not harsh and buzzed. I am not saying that ALL cigars that buzz are harsh and poorly made. But it has been MY experience that I get the worst buzz from the cheaper, harsher and most poorly burning cigars. I believe in moderation, and this goes with my cigars. When I rate a cigar, I deduct points for nicotine buzz. And if the stick makes me sick to the stomach, I will not smoke another one and will probably not take the time to write a review of it.

This is my opinion on the matter, and I am by no means an expert. I get the distinct impression from reading this forum, and sampling some of the current crop of cigar offerings, that my opinion is in the minority. I accept that and offer this explaination only to answer you question and not to say that anyone else's opinion is wrong, or to change anyone's mind on the matter.
