Foot Mold

Just found a stick in my humi with some despicable foot mold.

At first I panicked, sweating profusely and biting my lower lip, but thanks to the Search function and some helpful threads and articles I found, I have wiped off the fungus with a moist hand towel and all mold traces.

Currently dry boxing the baby (gonna dry box for like 3 days..enough time?) and hope to give it a puff in a week or 2.

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks and attach some photos of the culprit if anyone has any other suggestions/comments.

These were the threads/articles that were really helpful:

If you're willing to, you might want to clip the foot off of one of them to see if the mold went inside and how deep.. You can also use that as a gauge for clipping off the feet

Isn't that an Incubus album

As far as moldy feet...I'd either clip or or pitch it. I've had very bad luck smoking a cigar with a moldy foot. I got pretty sick. It may have been coincidence...but IMO it's not worth the risk.

I clipped the foot as well. I'm a little nervous lighting this thing still..I got it as a gift from a friend...and I know he purchased it from a shady little shop in SF where I've seen other moldy foot cases.

One could trip the light fantastic if one were so inclined with all the foot mold present in this place.

Re: Foot Mold

Wiping it off the foot isn't going to help if it's got into the body of the cigar.

I would clip off 1/2" or so off the foot and check before smoking.

If it shows signs of being pretty far up in the foot I would let her die and smoke something else... Those pics look pretty bad.

If it is just on the wrapper... I have no problems wiping it off well and them smoking it. But on the foot I am a bit more careful.

HAHA! Just to clarify, I was serious about my hypothesis but I'm not interested in people sending all their mouldy cigars! But, if someone stumbles over a mouldy cigar that tastes surprisingly good, I could be interested in getting a sample from the mould or the spores.
