Any way to repair cigars?

So I was honored to be gifted a few cigars, and unfortunately the box was damaged in shipping which resulted in 4 cigars being cracked. One of them has two cracks on slight angles around the cigar and then one going the length, throug they are roughtly 1/2 way through it, two are cracked on the bottom 1/3 length wise, and the other one is cracked near the band.

I feel like an a$$ to tell the guy hey these are broken...since it's not his fault, I don't want him to replace them... but wondering how if there's any way they can be repaired, or if there can be some strategy on fixing them. I'm afraid to look at the 5th under the cedar wrapper for fear that it's cracked too.... Stinking postal carriers

Thanks in advance,

Dan

This stuff is supposed to work well:

http://www.bcspecialties.com/cigarasp/cigacc_repair.asp

You can also use pectin (available at most grocery stores).

Re: Any way to repair cigars?

I got some of a different brand from my B&M for my SP Double Maduros. They have a tendency to unravel a bit or have cap problems on the cut. A little swirl of this stuff around the cap and it is a thing of beauty. Cuts or punches like a champ.

IHT's thread, which was posted earlier, does an excellent job of explaining how to go about repairing your cigars.

I did a short video on repairing damaged cigars not all that long ago that might help if your looking to see it hands on. It was my first time trying it and was surprised at how well it worked as well as how easy it was.

Re: Any way to repair cigars?

this is how i do it

i had a Bahia that had a messed up foot, so i decided to fix it...

1. tools of the trade

2. pour your fruit pectin

3. cut the matching wrapper that matches in this case 1988 Davidoff Chateau Mouton Rothchild...

4. paint the pectin on the damaged area

5. place the 1988 Davidoff Chateau Mouton Rothchild wrapper on the Bahia

sorry i lost the picture of the final product , but it smoked beautifully...

If the cigar is only slightly damaged you can repair it with arabic gum.

I've never had a Bahia, though I seriously thought he was kidding until I saw the wrapper being cut off that Davidoff.... I did cry a little bit, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

Sir, that video is awesome. I'm humbled every time I read some threads at how knowledgeable you guys are and the experiences you've all encountered.

I can't thank you all enough who've replied, I'm going to pick up some pectin today after work, and thinking of getting a jar of that other stuff to keep on hand for any later problems.....Though you won't see me raiding my B&M for those Davi's because hell, 18+ a stick....yeaaaa I'll go with these 1-2 dollar sticks for the doner thank you...just ouch.
