(here's hopping that this post will allow me to get a few more for myself )

in all seriousness I've probably had more taboos then i have any other brand and I would say that they are a high quality smoke, good ash, good construction, good taste.

I like the cameroons. I'd say they are on comparable to many of the premium cigars out there. If given a choice between Taboo cameroon and most premiums, I'll take whatever is less expensive.

Re: Are Taboo Cigars high-quality?

I have never smoked one, so my opinion really doesn't matter...

From what I understand Rob is not a blender he is a guy who buys cigars from manufactures from all over...

I am sure he is getting decent sticks at a decent price...

I have been gifted a few, just haven't smoked them yet...

I'm also curious ... but when I see:

Olivia V lancero 4.60 (fullers pullers 5 pk 23.00)
Fire corojo lancero 1.72 (famous 25 pk 42.99)
Taboo HSG lancero 4.99

Even with the discount with the silly sig line ad, I'm gonna pass.

I havn't been impressed with any Taboo I have tried, flavor wise. Construction was good but they are not to my tastes.

Give them a try and see. What is high quiality? If you smoke it and like it then that is all you need to know. Give Rob a call and ask him to put a sampler together and you can be the judge. If you like the lighter type make sure you try the HSG, If stronger then the origional special forces will be a good place to start.

Re: Are Taboo Cigars high-quality?

Nice cigars, great service BUT one of the WORST cigar labels EVAR created.

Sorry guys but it's hard to take them serious with those labels and logo.

I know that doesn't sound like much but I've had people who didn't know what they were take a look at them and laugh and not be interested in trying them. Kind of shallow and stupid but a cigar label does influence how you look at it.

i think this sentence needs a better choice of word order.... If you are letting bands determine what you smoke you may need to consider changing your smoking habits

The novice smoker will choose the "pretty" band everytime. I can't count how many times I have suggested to someone to go with a Padron and they don't because they are not impressed by the band.

Taboo's logo/band reminds me of Tatiana.

Re: Are Taboo Cigars high-quality?

[Tom knows things. Taboo is not a Premium brand(yet). A step under the ones he mentioned. But certainly on par with many of the "high-end" brands currently available. I will drop a couple of different Taboo blends in as extras with the package I am sending.

I am the consigliere, I should know things.... Bob thanks for your take, it was my impression from the posts as well. From your comments don't sub-in any Taboo for those brands..... JK, I look forward to trying them...

quote=icehog3;1806076]I see some people saying that they are high quality cigars because they are such a great value. I don't equate quality with value.

The construction of the Taboos I have smoked was good. The flavor was decent, though much too mild for my personal tastes (before the Taboo lovers start getting defensive, read: "my personal tastes").

Would I rank them on par in quality with Padron, Fuente and Tatuaje? No.

Smoke what you like, like what you smoke. [/quote]

ICEHOG 3, great post/advice. I have similiar smoking tastes, as I see from Top25cigar. I need flavor and try to ONLY smoke what I like!!

I'm also curious ... but when I see:

Olivia V lancero 4.60 (fullers pullers 5 pk 23.00)
Fire corojo lancero 1.72 (famous 25 pk 42.99)
Taboo HSG lancero 4.99

SEANGAR seems to have had the same impression I do. I want quality first and foremost, and doesn't have to be compromised for value. Padron, Fuente, Oliva, Pepin all make great cigars for value. Yes, customer service helps, and from all impressions Taboo is good at it, but I want to like what I am smoking NOW.

Great input from everyone, that's why I joined this forum...

Good to see someone has similar cigar tastes to me, Consigliere, I was beginning to think I might be just a tad odd.
