When that little squiggly line is at the end of a sentence it's a question, not a conclusion.

Are Taboo cigars really high-quality? like that of Padron, Tat, Fuente etc..

I see them all over these forums, but am not going to waste time with just another boutique brand...

Just want an honest opinion of some real aficionados. I am always sceptical when you have to "buy-in" or join, especially when it comes to one of my favorite pastimes.

Thanks for the input.
To directly answer the question in the thread title and not consider any thing else - I would say yes.
If one considers quality to be influenced by price than absolutely. At the price I think that they are well made, solid smokes.

People talk about Taboo a lot because they like the cigars and they are satisfied with the price/performance ratio and are satisfied the customer service they have received.

I personally don''t think any cigar I have ever smoked has been a waste of time. Every one has been a step in the journey that has led me further in my hobby.

Honest question, not a jab....but I am having a problem with the idea of price being a component of "quality".

If the Taboos were $10 apiece, would they be of less quality?
If they were a buck apiece, would they be of even higher quality?

I understand the "bang for the buck" concept, but if you read the original post and not just the title, the question he is asking is a little more complex than just "are they good at their price point".

Re: Are Taboo Cigars high-quality?

I haven't jumped on the Taboo bandwagon as of yet. I've had about six of them so far and while I enjoyed the flavor of them - they all just pissed me off. Each one had different burn problems - from not staying lit, tunneling, hard draw, soft spots, etc etc.
Have one more sitting in the humi that I might try one day when I've got nothing else to do - and if that one performs like the others then I'll just write the brand off.

Not taken as a jab. For the record, I did read the whole post. I just read the title and I was going to come on and post "Does the pope shit in the woods?" until I read further.

That's why I prefaced it with "To directly answer the question in the thread title and not consider any thing else - I would say yes." That was my answer not considering price.

When i considered the price my answer is even more so yes.

I would have to say that for me value is a component of overall quality.

It's not possible for me to say with any degree of certainty that the OP is going to enjoy the cigar. All I can do is relate my own experiences and try to answer a somewhat abstract question. I mean what is "quality" really? Construction alone? Taste + construction?

For me, it is difficult to separate price from my consideration. It is a part of the overall package. If a cigar costs $20-$30 and looks like it was rolled by a kindergartner with depth perception issues I am going think it is of less quality than if it was $.20 - .30 cents. At .20 or .30 or even .50 cents (to consider CFO) I am not really going to expect perfect wrappers.

To answer your question if they were $20 I wouldn't think the quality is in line with the pricing.

If they were $1 a piece I would say it was a stick that was of a higher quality for the amount of money than other cigars at that price point.

In order to address the OP's original questions for a minute I will try to remove the price from my consideration and what I come with is yes. I think that Taboo cigars are every bit as well made as Padrons or Fuentes and made at a better quality than the Tats that I have smoked.

Fair enough, and glad you took it in the spirit intended.

That being said, I would disagree about them being of equal or superior quality to the other three brands mentioned.

And I would end with, "Smoke what you like, like what you smoke"...to each his own.
