In my case, I have enjoyed the Taboo Twists that I have smoked so far. I haven't even seen a Tat or a Padron yet but I enjoy my Olivas, CAOs, Chateau Reals and La Vieja Habanas from Drew Estates. As I journey down the slope, I know that I will find new favorites - and that's half of the fun of this! ![]()

Re: Are Taboo Cigars high-quality?
All of the Taboo cigars I've smoked have been quite decent. None of them have blown me away yet but I've certainly enjoyed most of them. I would say that the ones I've tried were of "moderate" quality. A step up from the value brands but not quite at the level of Padron, Pepin, or Fuente. They're certainly worth trying. Go buy a sampler and form your own opinion
I personally am looking forward to trying the Taboo PCs and lanceros when they're in stock again. Rob had them made at the demand of CS and there's something to say for that kind of responsiveness! |

I had one of the barber pole smokes on the golf course and it was not bad but I haven't felt an urge to buy any since, for what it's worth

Re: Are Taboo Cigars high-quality?
Would I consider Taboos high quality? The short answer is yes. Are they on par with the likes of Padron, Oliva and Fuente? No. I have enjoyed many Taboos and even broke my own rule and ordered a bundle of the Exotic Blend IIs after one stick as they made for a really good inexpensive morning smoke. Tried the HSG for the first time yesterday and enjoyed that also. I tend to be more of a fuller bodied type of person but enjoy my fair share of Med. bodied sticks as well, which is where I feel most of Robs lines fit. The reason I do not put these in the same category as some of the higher end brands is simply due to consistency. I have had my share of burn issues and even in the bundle of EBIIs I have found the flavor to vary from stick to stick. I attribute these inconsistencies to the fact that I have a feeling that these may be shipping quickly to keep up with demand and not seeing the aging process that some of the larger manufacturers have the luxury of being able to execute. Hell, I feel Rocky Patel suffers the most from inconsistency so it's not something that is unheard of on this industry although I think RP is just coming up with too many damn lines to keep things in proper check. Look at the wrapper issues the V had when first released. It's a normal process.
I think Taboo has the full potential to play with the big dogs. I think Rob is just suffering from growing pains and things will work themselves out with time. His customer service is top notch and once everything else gets worked out and if he introduces a true full bodied line I think he will be well on is way. I know I will keep a few of his lines in rotation in my humi. Everyone has different tastes and the only way to know if you will like something is to try it. So if you have not tried any yet, give it a shot. With the discounts Rob offers you can't go wrong.

Re: Are Taboo Cigars high-quality?
What do you like in a cigar? If that matches the Taboo's flavor, then you'd be in a good shape. However, I've also had some construction problems with these cigars.

![]() I think the moral of the thread is to try everything you can and find what makes you happy. The beauty of this forum is that if you ever decide you don't like something enough to smoke it again, it's easy to find someone who loves it, then comes the joy of trading/bombing.
