Cigar Restoration Question

Last night I went to grab a couple cheap smokes from the bottom of my NC humidor to smoke with some casual smokers at work.

When I returned home 9 hours or so later, I discovered I had left the top try, with many of my premium NCs, out of the humidor. The humidity in the room was about 48%.

How long before I should smoke one of the cigars that were left out? Just curious if the FOGs would have an idea of how much damage 9 hours at 48% could do.

And for all you Newbs how will reply to this thread, "just send them to me and I will smoke them and tell you when they are OK"....NO.

Re: Cigar Restoration Question

Just send them to me and .....

Truth be told I dry out my cigars when I plan ahead for more time than your humi was open. Probably varies by RG but it takes lots of time for them to dry out completely.

They probably will be in about the same shape they started in within a day or so. Might be a good time to charge/overcharge the beads.

Just lick them all over if you want to smoke them now.

Re: Cigar Restoration Question

They will be fine. Cigars take a bigger beaten when being shipped. That length of time will not be a big effect on the cigars. Just recharge your humistats and close the cover. In a few days you will be fine.

Thanks Dave and Richard!

I did overcharge the beads a bit, so the 'gars could absorb a bit if needed.

If I send you the cigars will you lick them for me? I wish I could quit you...

OK now I've grossed myself out to the point where no snappy comeback is going to be forthcoming.

Considered and rejected

If I ever get a spitoon could pack the contents and... (Rejected because they ask that .. any hazadous question at the post office)

Shack Herf we could add a puff puff pass... etc (but the etcetera was giving me the willies)

Sean when he gets back could probably replicate klugs spittle and send it in volume to you.... (once again willies)

Hey buddy don't worry about it. When I take cigars out for me to smoke during the day, sometimes I don't smoke all of them, that means that they were out of the humidor for a good 10-15 hours and they dont even notice it. I just throw them back in there until next time.
Cigars are not as fragile as most people are led to believe. I once read a good article that quoted a humidity exchange ratio by time. Wish I could find it now.
