Comments on my big order of samplepacks @ J.R

Greetings fellow cigarpeople!

My name is Sebastian Clausin and I live in Sweden, were the weather is cold and the women never seem to grow old. I´m very new to the wonderfull world of cigars. My first experience smoking a cigar was this summer in Spain, where I had the chance to enjoy a "Montecristo No.2 Tubo". Oooh...what a joy the taste and structure were sent from heaven, and I´ve been really enjoying this new hobby of mine from that moment. Unfurtnatually, I´ve haven´t been able to try so many brands, only 1 Carlos Toraño Gold and 1 CAO "something" (can´t remember the name).

I will have the opportunity to order from J.R with a friend who knows people in USA, and I´ve read up and asked friends for recommendations on what samplepacks I should grab from J.R

This is what I´ve come up with:

*Hoyo de Monterrrey Dark Sumatra Ebano
*Bolivar Fuerte No. 654
*Don Diego Corona
*El Rey Del Mundo Robusto Larga
*Excalibur No. I Natural
*Montecristo Afrique Jambo Jambo
*Montesino No. 1 Maduro
*Punch Double Corona
*Don Diego Privada No. 2
*Fonseca 7-9-9
*CAO Cameroon Robusto
*El Rey Del Mundo Rectangulare
*H. Upmann Connoisseur Cabinet 96-20
*Sancho Panza Double Maduro Cervantes
*Onyx Reserve Robusto

If this isn't an insight into human nature I don't know what is. Always want what you can't get easily. In this case we have a fellow in Sweden working hard to get some of those fine JR smokes. L-O-freakin-L.

Tell you what. I'll send you a box of El Rey Del Mundo Robusto Larga if you'll send a box of Punch EL Robusto. Deal?

To be serious I've had the Hoyo Sumatrans and the ERDM's and found both to be lacking. Althought I would take the ERDM's before the Hoyo Sumatrans. Can't comment on the rest.

Everyone has different tastes, so take this with a grain of salt...

Personally I would skip the Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatra.
For the Excalibur, I would get maduro instead of natural.
I would skip the Montecristo Afrique (I like Platinum or H2000 better. I think JR may have the H2000 Magnums).
Never had Montesino Maduro, but was bored by the one Montesino natural I tried.
I didn't like the Onyx Reserves much, but I know that lots of people do.

Have you seen the taxes some of us have to put up with on smokes? and hell, sometimes it's nice to try stuff that is different... I mean, would you pay $750 for a box of Opus X? That's what my B&M charges (well, about £425)

Looks good but JR's also has a 6 cigar Torano sampler for $15. Includes 2 each of 1916 Cameroon Robusto's, Signature Toro's and Nicuraguan Selection Chruchhills. I would also add anything from the CAO Brazilia line.

Re: Comments on my big order of samplepacks @ J.R

Greetings. I have smoked the Jambo Jambos and the Sancho Panzas. Both are great smokes and as soon as I have room in my humi - I will purchase boxes of each. I think that you are going about this the right way. I also ordered about 10 sample packs from JRs to help me figure out what I like and dislike.

Not sure what your customs folks will do with your shipment though. You can expect some kind of tax though.

Not sure what part of Sweden you are from, but I took a ferry from Tallinn to Stockholm once. It was an overnight deal that arrived in Stockholm in the morning. One of the most beautiful places that I have ever been.
