This should be a good one...I hope

The cigars that I've been smoking before have usually been Montecristo Tubos, of which I still have one that needs smoking.

Today, i broke with my routine ,and on the recommendation of a friend, purchased a Romeo Y Julietta Churchill cigar, the cigars smoked by the famous Winston Churchill, hence the name

I'm planning on having it tonight, so, I hope its as good as the Montecristos. This will be a good break in test for my new cigar cutter and butane torch ligher.

Anyone got any opinions on the RYJ Curchills?

I'm not so sure that Winnie didn't smoke an H.Upmann - hence that name, Sir Winston Churchill
But, I think that you will really enjoy the RyJ Churchill - My only bad experience with them is that I seem to get a few more that are tight - almost plugged and I need to use a poker. But I find these to be a smooth tasting and satisifying smoke.

Make a post tomorrow and let us know how it compares to the MC that you are more use to smoking.

Jealious?? there's no need to be

I hope it is a good cigar. But, something tells me, I'll probably stick with my Montecristo's and only have a RYJ Churchill every now and again.

But, i'm a student, so, i can only afford to get cigars every couple of weeks. and even then, they're only ever single cigars in tubes. lol.

Re: This should be a good one...I hope

If you like the churchhill vitola, the RnJ is a good start. IMHO it's a fairly complex smoke that stays on the mild side of medium.

Try to find out what year you're buying.......from the box codes. You'll find different tastes depending on the year......most definitely.

I'm partial to 98' for the Punch Churchhill and the Partagas Lusi. I heard the 05's are wonderful; haven't had the opportunity. I've had Sir Winnies from several years that were all good.

Happy Hunting

Re: This should be a good one...I hope

Well, I'm certainly looking forward to it tonight. Though I do have one question:

My Montecristo Tubos that i smoked, took me about 1 hour and 30 minutes to get through, i'm not kidding, i couldnt' beleive how long it lasted.

Anyone have a rough idea how long this RYJ Churchill might last?

I agree that the cubans are very enjoyable although in my experience I have had quite a few that were rather tight. I have two left from a stash I received as a gift. They have been aging for nearly three years now.

I dont remember how long it took, but it was more or less the same as you (1:30), since i was smoking it relaxed and not in a rush.
