Ditto on the V-cut as I used to try and find where the cap ended and it was completely chance if it was cut right. With a V cut, you don't have that worry.

I prefer this cut as well. Never heard of a V-cut on a torp. Will have to try it!

Re: How to cut Torpedos

Thanks again everyone. The posts have been helpful. However, I'm still confused (intrigued) about the v type cutter. Tried to search here and googled, but there seems to be precious little info out there. Mostly curious about exactly how it cuts the gar, and what would be the benifit from cutting this way. Can anyone enlighten me?
Thanks

Shaz...

The v-cut takes a diamond shape notch out of the cap of the cigar. It is more likely to hold together and not get all mushy (if youre a chomper) It also supposedly funnels more flavor to your tongue. I've had one V-cut cigar before and it was an interesting change. Id reccommend you try it at least once

I occasionally v-cut a torpedo too...sorta depends on my mood and what cutter I happen to have atm, but mostly just cut on the slant of the cap...

Man!!! So much to learn. For such a seemingly simple hobby, (ie, buy cigar, cut cigar, smoke cigar, enjoy cigar, finish cigar) there can be a book written on each step. I guess that's what facinates me about this pasttime.
