Anybody tried G.A.R.
I was wondering if anybody had tried the new G.A.R. by George Rico? I'm a Gran Habano fan and interested in his newest cigar. The online shops make everything sound great so i wanted a real cigar smoker's opinion.

Sure have. I'm not a GH fan at all, but these cigars are VERY good

Re: Anybody tried G.A.R.
I did a blind taste test in August, one of which was the G.A.R. Torpedo. Here's my notes:
#16 – Box-Pressed Torpedo 6.5” x 52(?) ring Aesthetics – Anicely-rolled box press, firmly packed with smooth leathery medium brown wrapper. A pretty stick, to be sure. Score: 9.2 Construction – Initial draw is tighter than I like, but doable; it takes 2-3 puffs to get a mouthful of smoke, but loosens up about a third into it. Firm stark white ash holds well. Burns fairly even, requiring only 1-2 touch-ups. Score: 9.0 Flavor & Strength – Starts with a pleasant sweetness, some floral & spice, then an almond aftertaste & nice creamy feel. Medium in body, but I can sense the nicotine is stronger than the taste suggests. It gets a bit stronger as it goes, with more ginger & citrus flavors, until the last third where a sharper charcoal taste dominates. Score: 8.8 General Comments – I could see trying this again, as it appears to have good aging potential. Very pleasant until the last 2 inches. Paired well with a good rum on the rocks. Reminded me at times of a Sancho Panza or a milder Joya de Nicaragua Celabraccion.

Re: Anybody tried G.A.R.
Funny thing on this one; my local B&M bought several boxes at the Vegas trade show this summer. He and another customer smoked one when he got back, and both hated it. He thought he made a goof, because he sells a lot of GH product, and bought several boxes of these expecting a similar profile product. He decided to let them sit a few months before trying to sell them, to see if it helped. He brought them in 2 weeks ago and set them in the walk-in to sell, and tried another. He said it was like night and day, the change in taste, and now loves 'em. I think enough of them that I'm considering a box.
