Re: What Kind of Cigars Should I Buy?
I would try everything, but keep a close eye on the tobacco and wrapper make-up of the cigar, as well as size.
You might try brand 'A' natural wrapper and brand 'B' maduro wrapper. You might think you like brand 'B' better, but maybe your just more into maduro wrappers. Maybe brand 'A' has a similar maduro wrapped cigar. The same thing can happen with size. If you're really new, when you go to a good shop, ask them to cut your cigar and help you light it. Ask them why they choose their method of cutting, and watch how they light your cigar. |

If you are trying the mild end of the spectrum first, I would give a try to the Cusano 18 double connecticut and the 5 vegas gold. Both are nice and flavorful. But as has already been said, smoke as much as you can and you will figure out what you like. Keep in mind that taste is completely subjective and that, while we can recommend smokes we like, only you will know whether they hit the spot for you.

Re: What Kind of Cigars Should I Buy?
Try as much differnt stuff as you can. Keep a record of what you like and don't like. I got a little memo book
and taped a band onto each page with a brief description of the cigar it came from. I included things like name, wrapper, size, strength, taste, temperature, (did it get hot), construction, a general note and a rating. This was very helpful as time went on and it got so I looked forward to jotting down my notes whenever I tried a new stick. Mostly though, enjoy !

Re: What Kind of Cigars Should I Buy?
Stick with Habanos and don't waste your money or time with non-cuban cigars. Non-cuban cigars are worth visiting after you have base in Habanos.
I know some will say the other way around, but why waste any time smoking inferior cigars? Nothing worse than having a humidor filled with crappy smokes. Several vendors do sell singles and 5 packs. Pick petite coronas from any brand will give you an idea of what to expect from the brand. Many cigar board forums have banner ads from vendors you should be able to trust. For sure one thing, your tastes will change and that does not mean what you liked before is no longer, but that your taste has changed.
