What Kind of Cigars Should I Buy?

I just started smoking cigars about a month ago, so I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on what cigars to buy. I know that, as a beginning cigar smoker, I should buy mild cigars, and so far I have purchased Montecristo and Macanudo cigars, but I was wondering what other brands I can buy.

Try Fuentes, Toranos, and an often overlooked great cigar is Montesino.

You can do what I have done and continue to do.....try everything you can. Just pick them at random and keep notes on what you have bought and what you like. After a few years you may be able to narrow your focus. Try a Casa Torano. One my favorite mild cigars.

It may take a long time but it's a fun ride!

Smoke everything you can get your hands on, you will figure out what you like eventually

Re: What Kind of Cigars Should I Buy?

Welcome Kukla.

Here are a few mild smokes that I like:

La Aurora Leoninos
Occidental Reserve Conny
Vega Talanga Blanco

The Leos and the Vegas can be had on cbid for a buck each.

Re: What Kind of Cigars Should I Buy?

Try every cigar you can. Everyone is different. A big thing is try to remember to keep the bands. Write the size/shape on the back too so that if there are some you really like you can get more by looking at the bands. Make notes if you have time. I like to keep reciepts too so that I know what I paid at a shop for it.

Most of all have fun, this hobby is 100% about what you make of it.

Re: What Kind of Cigars Should I Buy?

If you have a B&M close enough where you can hang out I would suggest that because you can get personal and up close to other varieties of cigars that you can smell from other brothers and if you like them ask what they are smoking and what it's like. It's a learning curve we all go thru.

Re: What Kind of Cigars Should I Buy?

I would probably refrain from buying boxes or too many fivers, you can end up with a lot of cigars you don't like. One thing to be careful when you are browsing cigarbid.

Also, from my experience, I wouldn't buy too many different sizes of the same cigar at once, although different sizes are different blends and taste slightly different, usually if you really dislike one size of a particular label, you probably won't like the others.

I would try some Padron's, probably the Londres and/or the 2000's, not too pricey and good quality cigars. The naturals and maduro's taste slightly different, so I would pick up one of each to compare.
