lower rh in winter

My humidors only holding around 63% when I recharge the beads instead of 70% like it does in the warmer seasons. Should I leave em like this or try to bring up the rh a little? Will my cigars smoke differently?

In my experience, they'll burn and draw much better at the lower rh than at 70%.

I have a similar problem with my Bally glasstop humi. Normally sits at 64-65% (with a 65% tube) but lately doesn't want to rise above 59-60% even after recently recharging my beads. I'm not too worried about it. I figure a few months at that lower rh won't harm things much. Unless the wiser FOGs tell me otherwise...

Not that I am A FOG or any wiser but, I wouldn't worry about the small variations in humidity. Maybe if it jumped or dropped 5% - 6% all the time and quickly but a slow change should not hurt anything.

Re: lower rh in winter

IMHO 63% / 65% is the ideal range to keep the RH at in my Igloodors! For me, my cigars smoke much better, when stored between 63% & 65% RH!

Re: lower rh in winter

mine drop too every winter, running the furnace takes humidity (RH) out of the air. same thing can happen in summer w/running the A/C, just not as severe. unless you drop below 60% it's nothing to worry about IMHO.
