Cellophane wrappers... to remove or leave on?
I assume this has been covered but I have been unable to find anything in previous posts... I apologize if this is a topic that has been beat to death but I only recently bought some boxes that have the cigars in cello. Some books I've read say remove it. Fellow smokers seem mixed on the subject.
The boxes in question are some CAOs and some Olivas and I assume they will take me the better part of a year to consume. They are being stored in a large humidifed cooler that keeps very near 70 degrees and 68-70 hum. I broke the seals of the boxes and so far have not removed any. What woudja' do? (Sorry, no Klondike bar) Lx PS... You can ignore this one as I searched the forum for "cello" and "cellophane" and found a ton of great info... Sorry! Will use the search more from now on! (here's what I found: http://www.clubstogie.com/vb/showthr...ighlight=cello) Last edited by Lexxxus; 12-28-2008 at 03:49 AM.. |

Re: Cellophane wrappers... to remove or leave on?
The answer is "yes"
Both are ok. Leaving the cello on is fine and may protect the cigars during handling. Removing the cello is ok (I do just because I think they look better in the humidor if the they are all cello free instead of a mix of no cello and some cello covered) I just handle them carefully. It really is just a personal preference thing there is no right answer. |

I don't want to put a damper on your quest, knowledge is king around here.
But…if you look near the bottom of this page(above Quick Reply) and look to the left side under the word "Tag" you will see the word "cello", click on that and read to your hearts content.

I would think that the draw would be hard and the taste would be awful if you didn't take the wrappers off.

Keep them the way you purchased them; i.e. if they came in cellophane, leave them. The only exception is if you are aging the cigar than cellophane.

Re: Cellophane wrappers... to remove or leave on?
The wife insists on putting cigar "cozies" on my cigars when they arrive. I hate to tell her no because she can knit cozies as small as a nats wing. ( ok, I'm kidding here,,,maybe the size of bat wings )

They put them on for a reason so why take them off.

In the glass top humidor, the cigars int he top tray have the cello removed. Those in the bottom waiting for their turn on the top shelf still have the cello on.
Why? Because I like to look in the humidor and see nekid cigars. I think it looks better. ![]()
