Temperature Question

I am trying to set up a coolerdor. I threw in a humidification device and a digital hygrometer/thermometer and put it in the basement. The humidity came to 68% right away but the temp is 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Is that OK or should I move it?

Re: Temperature Question

I worry more about high temps ... I've heard of lots of people who keep their coolerdor in the basement for that reason ... see no reason why 60 would be a problem. The cooler temp could affect your ability to keep the rh up when the outside humidity is very low. Other than that, maybe more experienced Gorillas can think of other drawbacks to cooler temps.

Re: Temperature Question

your problem is that you threw the humidification device into the unit.. Pick the device up, apologize, and gently place it back into the cooler, while singing, "i love cigars, and justinphilly is god." Then, and only then, will your temperature problem (not really a problem) will be fixed...

did i mention that the tmeperature issue is not really a problem?

Re: Temperature Question

I keep ine in the basement and like you say it stays around 60 degrees. From what I have ben told it might slow down the ageing, but that about it. On the bright side beetles don't hatch at that low of a temp.

Re: Temperature Question

STORMIN... (IMHO) Keep them in the basement (Spring-Summer) as temperature fluctuate. Here in Michigan, the (upstairs) ambient tep fluctuates between 68 and 78 (depending upon who's home, and when). If you can keep them above 60 CONSTANTLY, that's far better than running them through the "hot-cool" cycles.
