Hello all,
Thanks for the write ups and I appreciate the information. It looks like we have enough interest to get the ball rolling. I appreciate your opinion and I welcome any comments and suggestions. This is open to all. I will continue to post here and welcome any comments and questions. As with any post once this overstays its welcome it will slip into oblivion. This can be done as members find other posts/threads that interest them or when they feel that this new thread is no longer of use. We can vote with our feet. Until then I welcome all and know this will be what we make it.

A quick question, It is Saturday and since I'm not at work I look forward to sitting down and savoring a smoke. I believe I'm going to smoke a C.A.O Italia Gondola. I will report back on my thoughts about the stogie. If anyone out there is enjoying a good smoke today let us know your thoughts. It's the weekend and it's time to unwind, so smoke 'em if you got 'em.

take care,
iNDi

I know when I started it would have been nice to find answers to common questions. I will create a new section called "Cigar Novice" since I hate the word noob or newbie. The moderators can help to move some of the more common threads into this "Cigar Novice" section so that these things do not get lost in the post.

Like Shelby07 said, people on cigarlive are wanted in all sections, we do no discriminate just because you are a new smoker. Everyone helps each other and that is what it is all about.

Absolutely! There are a ton of BOTLS and SOTLS here ready to help answer questions and offer advice to all the new cigar lovers out there. And if we don't know the answer, we will pretend we do. That is a promise!

Yes, I too am a novice. But as I do with all hobbies I've taken up, I go "all in" and learn/experience all I can as quickly as possible. I've absorbed an incredible amount of information since formally taking cigar smoking as a hobby a couple of months ago.

I've graduated quickly from the mild cigar to the more complex full bodied cigars. I read a lot of reviews and listen to many podcasts. I still have to develop my palate to be able to taste all these flavors that are described in the reviews. It will take some time, but I'm already starting to understand the subtle nuances of different cigars.

It takes time to appreciate the finer things in life!

Oh no...

No bowing out...

Stick in this thread, and in others you find around here...

Okay, I'm back...I was unsure If I was getting the go ahead or offending folks.

I will be honest the senior members are great and very helpful. I just felt that some of the ratings/information was over my head. I did not want to recommend or drop an idea on a smoke with i have a year old palate compared to those senior members or statesmen that have been smoking for years. I know very little and figured a novice social group would be a good start for box splitting/ideas/ random thoughts.

Rowdy we need to link this thread with at least a reference to your developed thread. You did a good job posting the information and I know I'll be looking over it often. I hope all will benefit from your work whether novice or not. I look forward to learning together and I hope this thread has an open/everyone welcome atmosphere.

Thanks,
iNDi77

Guys, I have been smoking sticks for several years but still consider myself a novice, Really. I have yet to really discern all of the flavors brought out in cigars. I really like full bodied strong sticks but just finished a La Gloria Cubana Serie R 5 and I think I may have to lay down it's nocking my socks off my wife keeps looking at me to make sure I am ok. I also frequent other boards and I have to tell you this board Daniel has put together is the best,. I met Daniel in Houston last month and he is a awesome dude. We can all learn from one another. For me, this thread is great... have only been smoking for about two weeks, so I am really interested in what others are smoking, and any suggestions for my novice palate are appreciated!

After you have had a box or two about 50 cigars to acclimate you pallet, try smoking a cigar and make notes of what you think of the taste burn sent and then aftewrwards look for different reviews and see what others say. That way you are not swayed by the review and you can honestly see what YOU like or dislike...IMHO the besat way to learn your pallet..
