indeed it does it also makes everything else smell bad the tar build up that ruins the entire cigar becuz the smoke gets stale and settles into the remaining tobacco to create the most unpleasant taste

My experience: Never, ever, in your darkest dream enclose the cigar. Let it go out by itself and just sit in the ashtray, but DO NOT put it in a baggie, humidor, or anything else enclosed. It will stink to high heavens when you take it out. In the open air, the effect on the cigar is not so bad IF your natural humidity levels are reasonably high, else it will dry out. I've left them sitting in the ashtray for a couple of days with little ill effects. I say "little", but I mean "none". I'm just leaving room for not being able to tast the subtle flavors.

If you are in this situation do what I do with my wife, cut the thing in half and save the other half for later.

I do not care if I am smoking a $25.00 Davidoff, or whatever.... Once I am finished, I am finished. If I've only smoked 1/4, 1/2, or whatever.... A cigar NEVER tastes the same the next day or longer.

I never do this. I will not relight a cigar if it has been sitting longer than 20 minutes. It tastes stale, somewhat like an old used ash tray.

I ran into the same problem during the day. If you only have 20-40 minutes to smoke, I used to get frustrated of wasting part of a cigar. Be on the lookout for small cigars. There are tins of CAO's and Ashton's that I have seen which are decent cigarillos. Smoking when you are time constrained is always a bit of a bummer.

Unless it is a mild cigar it is instant dog log once it goes cold.

I have to put a vote in for finding shorter burn cigars for those times you just are not sure...
I'm another one who's done with a cigar unless I can immediately relight it when it goes out. It does suck if you waste a premium or better however comma Part of cigars for me is living life to its fullest, damn the torpedoes, and forget the outside world. If that means I leave 3/4 of a fine cigar, so be it.

I agree totally. I have smoked for so many years and know that once you fire that missle you can't bring it back to get the bang you paid for it. Unless you are going to go do the yard and need something to smoke, go for it otherwise it isn't the cigar it used to be.

Can't stand relighting the smokes and I have tried it different ways mentioned. They just don't taste right. I keep some smaller ring gauge smokes if I think I may not have enough time. Even if i start a good smoke and something comes up and I can't finish I'm done with it.

I have to be honest, I'm not a fan of relighting. I know my dad has done it, and I tried it but it destroyed the flavor for me.

i don't generally save a stick just because if you haven't noticed, a cigar when it has been out for a period of time it gives off a very pungent stench, and it gets into the taste of the stick as well...so generally i just kiss it goodbye and just wait for the next one.
