Coolidors (spelling?)

I have found myself very interested in learning about what a coolidor is. I figure that it is basically a humidor that helps keep the temperature down so your cigars don't get too hot. The only thing i seem to be able to find on them is how to build your own. I can't seem to find anyone that sells them or explains them. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

and potentially anything on a fridgidor (spelling?)

Check the 'storage' section here. Lots of good info. Basically, buy a big ass cooler, clean it with a bit of weak bleach, air it out for a while, buy some humidity beads, and you're done.

Its not really about keeping the cigars cool so much as they are a cost conscious option to get a large amount of storage. They usually have a good seal and work well. It was my first choice after I ran out of space in my first tiny humidor and I couldn't be more pleased with it.

What Vince said, its not about keeping the cigars cool. Its just a cheap way of making a very large humidor. People make their own, I don't think I have ever seen any for sale that was already made. You can use a cooler, tupperware, mini fridge etc.... Now a fridge you could use to keep them cool, if you go that way you want one (prob a wine fridge) that you can turn up to the high 60s.

So you do not need to have the inside covered in Spanish cedar?

No, not really, but it can't hurt and it will smell nice.

Do you just take the wood out of boxes or is there some way to get spanish cedar that would work?

You can do that or you can buy some spanish cedar locally or online. I think boxes are the cheapest/easiest way to go.
Just get some empty boxes and store your cigars inside them in the cooler.

I'm putting the spanish cedar trays in mine. Ordered them from Cheaphumidors.com but they haven't come in yet.

I've seen that these are the easiest way to spend money on cigars and not spend a fortune to store them.

here's my cooler:
a 150 qt coleman marine cooler from walmart for about $80. way cheaper than a cabinet or end table that would hold this many boxes.

I just ordered one of these from wal-mart and a pound of heartfelt beads. What kind of material did you use to make the shelves out of? Do you use any kind of fans in there?

This weekend's project was making a new coolidor for my friend. It was a lot of fun and seems to be working great so far.
