Beads are a great way to do it, but a couple shot glasses full of distilled water will work just as well. Leave it in for a week and monitor the water in the shot glasses. If they are empty keep filling them until they no longer evaporate. Then she's ready

Maturing Puffer Fish

I have tried just about everything in existence to humidify a humidor. I think beads are great for cabinets/coolerdors in conjunction with an electronic humidifier but for desktops they are just more trouble than they are worth. Especially with the gel cystals now coming in every shape and size. They are so much easier and work every bit as good.

Well, the seasoning method worked well and everything settled right down once I put the beads in. Now it's packed full and I need another humidor. Go figure....
