Anyone mark dates on their sticks wrappers?

I'm in the process of stocking a couple of new humi's and since I'm a light smoker was wondering if it would be a good idea to "date" my sticks? By "date" I mean to mark their date of introduction into the humi with a marker on their wrapper.
Not exactly sure yet but I plan on keeping around 300 sticks stocked, many of which will be loose stored. Just seems like some could get overlooked several times over the years and potentially be in there too long.
Good idea? Bad idea?............

I use small colored dot stickers. One color per year. I don't see any reason to get any more specific. Everything new goes in the cooler anyway, so I never have to worry about young sticks in the desktop.

Re: Anyone mark dates on their sticks wrappers?

I used to do a wide variety of different things to remember date-stored and other information. Over the past year or so I've found that I just put them in storage as I receive them in purchases. I've stopped keeping track of that information gradually. The cigars taste just as good and there's a bunch of book-keeping type tasks that I don't have to do any more... Heh...

Re: Anyone mark dates on their sticks wrappers?

i just started keeping track of the dates that i put my smokes in the humi. i like to think of it as just another aspect of my cigar "hobby". don't know how long it'll last since, by nature, i am lazy too.

Re: Anyone mark dates on their sticks wrappers?

I was just going to make a thread about this. I just got some labels that are longer and skinny at kroger. 156 labels for $.99, i was going to see who else does this and what they use.

Re: Anyone mark dates on their sticks wrappers?

I've started marking the date the cigar was rolled on the cap with an ink pen. I used to use blank bands to mark the year and the person the cigar was received by so I could thank the
mentally when smoking but I've gotten lazy. Year on the cap is good enough for me now. Never can a cigar sit in my humi for too long.

I usually mark the date I got the cigar.

Re: Anyone mark dates on their sticks wrappers?

If I buy a box I put a label on the box (using a Brother P-touch labeler). If I buy a bundle I mark one of the cellos, and save it for last. for individual sticks I have little stickers that I put the month and year on, and I will add an additional tag for sticks that are not easilly identifiable to say what they are.

Re: Anyone mark dates on their sticks wrappers?

I keep an excel spreadsheet with the date I acquired a cigar (purchase and gift) with tasting notes. This allows me to track most cigars. Yeah, I suffer from an acute case of being an engineer.

I put a date on the cello with a fine point felt tip pen for Cigars that I plan to keep for several years. I like Hot Stuff X's idea of labeling one cigar in a box and saving that one for last.

Re: Anyone mark dates on their sticks wrappers?

I label boxes, but not singles. I try to not let anything get over a year old, as I prefer strong zesty cigars.
