I don't suppose there's a way to revive a dry cigar
Is there?
Left a good cigar in an old humi I wasn't using anymore and just forgot about it. Since the humi wasn't in service anymore, it wasn't getting humidified. Hence the dry cigar. It's been a couple months... so I can't imagine it is salvageable anymore, is it? Let me in on your secrets if there's a way.

Cigars are like a sponge and can always be revived.

Well... let's hear it then. How should I go about this?

Re: I don't suppose there's a way to revive a dry cigar
Bring it back to your RH of choice very slowly.CT broadleaf
Unless you leave a cigar in the car, by the window or in some other area with extreme volitility in temp/RH you shouldn't have a prob. What kind of cigar is it? If it's got a thin wrapper like cameroon you have to be especially careful as they tend to bloat and bust easier than lets say a CT broadleaf. I would put it in a zip loc bag and start humidifying at 40% incrementing it by 10% every few days until it's ready to join it's bretheren. I have in the past just thrown dry cigars straight into the humi which I keep at 65% with no issues.

Re: I don't suppose there's a way to revive a dry cigar
Obviously you need to get humidity to that old, dry, stale cigar to bring it back to life. Just let it rest in a (seasoned) humidor for a couple of weeks or so and it will be good as new.

Alright. Easy enough.

Take it slow or it will absorb too fast and split.
Start out by putting in in its own box and add a lil bit of humidity i.e. a piece of wet paper towl lightly damp. Need to watch it but it should revive it.It may not taste the same if the oils have dried out. Shawn

Maybe what I'll do is set up a Zip-Lok bag and put it in there by itself for awhile, keep the humidity lower at first.

Re: I don't suppose there's a way to revive a dry cigar
i had a similar situation where I found a cigar in a memorable box from moving 6 months ago, I put it in the humidor and a week later it was squishy! It will be more interesting when I smoke it

Re: I don't suppose there's a way to revive a dry cigar
Can I use some of my beads in a Zip-Lok bag, or would it be better to pick up a humidifying pouch/pillow or whatever?

Re: I don't suppose there's a way to revive a dry cigar
just put a couple drops of water on a paper towel and put it in there.

Re: I don't suppose there's a way to revive a dry cigar
Squid® would just put it in the humidor and surround it with other cigars. Wait two or three months and it should be fine...
