Little white dots on wrapper ash?

I've been noticing these lately and they have been on cigars I really enjoy. LX2, AF Short Story, Nubs, and Padrons to name a few. Is it the wrapper leaf being used? What exactly is it?

Thanks, Patrick

Re: Little white dots on wrapper ash?

I find it prevalent in "toothy" wrappers such as the ones on the cigars you mention. Not too sure what it is but "tooth" to my knowledge, refers to the texture of little bumps or grains in the wrapper.

Re: Little white dots on wrapper ash?

Are they like the ones in the cigar second from bottom in this picture? If so, I believe they are "harmless" beyond just having dots on your cigar.

Edit - to slow!

Re: Little white dots on wrapper ash?

Those bumps in the ash are called grain and are harmless. They are caused by the wrapper leaf having been grown in soil that was high in magnesium.
