I have a 5 year old box of Montecristo #4's (cc). They are smelling pretty darn good. Time to smoke them up!

Re: what's your oldest cigar(s)?
I picked up a couple of "Betsy Ross" clear havanas from Joe (Lenguamor) about 6 months back. They were made between 1910 and 1916.

Re: what's your oldest cigar(s)?
LOL, I had to! To be honest, they smelled like an old leather trunk in an antique store but after having smoked a King Edward from the 1950's (which was surprisingly amazing), I had to try one.
The cello was really more brown than yellow at this point in its history. Though the taste was somewhat flat (as can be expected I suppose), the flavor was actually still there. Oddly enough, I actually tasted a trace of "mint" .More than anything, it was really fun to smoke something as old (or older) than my grandfather, thinking of all the things that had happened since that cigar was rolled. |

Re: what's your oldest cigar(s)?
Ya know, I can't remember what I paid for them from Joe (Lenguamor) but I *think* it was around $20 per stick. For me though, getting my hands on a few was more for sentimental reasons than for what I was expecting in flavor.
But I have to tell you - as odd as it sounds, the King Edward clear havana from the 50s that I had is easily the 2nd best cigar I've enjoyed in my 13 years of serious cigar smoking. That ranks just behind a 1984 Dunhill Estupendo but ahead of a Davidoff Special <53>! |

The oldest cigars I have are some Bolivar Coronas Extra and Saint Luis Rey Churchills from 1999. Most of my stock is from 2000-2001 and mighty tasty.

That is the most amazing thing i've ever seen!! Imagine something vegetal lasting that long,it's incredible....and to still be in any way smokeable as well. If you come across another very old cigar like that let me know please.I would be very interested in getting one for my collection. How is the construction when compared to today's cigars?

Re: what's your oldest cigar(s)?
I have a couple from the 20's rolled here in the states with cuban tobacco. I also have the standard clears that went around for awhile from the 50's. I have a couple from the 60's also.
More novelty though. they smoke like a smooth cigarette. |

The construction is really good in this case. Surprisingly well made with a natural tobacco wrapper, and slightly perfecto-shaped. I've been searching for a couple of hours to no avail for a post that Joe made about a box of cigars he has from the mid 1800's . Those weren't in great condition as I remember, but he said that they held far too much sentimental value for him to smoke them. Pretty wild.Actually, here's a review that Joe did on a Betsy Ross - a little more articulate than mine, lol. Betsy Ross - Clear Havana Review |
