I was just curious, what is the oldest cigars you guys have in your humidor? I mean oldest as in since YOU put it in there, not how old the cigar may be.

For me I think it is some Donovan Leigh Trifecta tins that are about 5 years old. I got some back then and didn't like them very much so I sat them to the side but I smoked one the other day and they are a lot better.I don't know if it's the age or my taste changed.

Re: what's your oldest cigar(s)?

About one year, and that is older than I like them. I like strong edgy cigars. Aging just makes them milder, and a lot of NCs just fade into tastelessness with too much age.

It's definitely an unusual cigar to pick to age

How are they smoking?

Brian

I don't know if your doing this....but that's what I should have done.We went to Cancun on our honeymoon (15 years ago) and I got some habanas but i've well since smoked those.I should have brought back a box and smoked one each year on our anniversary.

Then, after 20 years I woulda had an excuse to kick the B out and found someone else to marry so I could get another box

I bet those are tasteing good by now though

I didn't set out to age them, actually. I bought them years ago and then stopped smoking - turned to pipes and then nothing for a while. They sat through some unpleasant conditions and I found them in the coolerdor when I started back with cigars. They sat and sat - mostly I think I was a little afraid of them! All that mistreatment - they could only be holding a grudge. I tried one out back in december and another in January - I was surprised. They were pretty good, considering. I think they were a bit more mellow than I remember, but the tastes were good. They had a sweetness and a taste that reminded me of Worcestershire sauce. The burn was a little off - but they held up pretty good.

Re: what's your oldest cigar(s)?

Nothing to old for me, some VSGs I bought when I first started smoking. So I guess they have about 5 years on them.
