I have never tried it however there are those in the "know" that swear by it - I believe this style of lighting even have its own name.

I personally have not tried it as I am stuck in my lighting ritual that I never remeber it till after its lite.

I always light my cigar that way. Don't know if it really makes a difference, but I like the idea that fumes or odors from the lighter are less likely to be drawn into my cigar due to a chimney effect.

I light it same way too, first toast it then clip it, just seems to light up better!

Never seen that to be a problem, using a torch lighter shouldn't give off any fumes into the cigar.
I usually use wooden matches anyway unless in the wind of course.

Yeah no shit..........I have used this method several times and have not noticed much of a difference from when I clip first and then light. It just makes you look like you know something others don't know.

The Most Interesting Man in the World is always one step ahead.

I shall hereon attempt to light first & clip after in my feeble attempt to be like him.

Hope the W doesn't burn down on Sunday.

Never heard of it or seen anybody do it before, always learning something new. But I think I will to stick to my old way of doing it, I can see myself also burning myself trying to do it like that LOL

As many other here, I haven't seen or heard of this before. I think I may give it a try on my next stick though to see if there is any noticeable difference.

I realize that torch's aren't supposed to give off fumes, but I figure it can't hurt. I smoke outdoors or in my work car (light before I take off) so matches don't work for me here on the Oregon coast where there is almost always a breeze.

Re: has anyone lit a cigar then clipped it after??

I've done it several times but don't notice an appreciable difference in that I toast the end until it is a fireball without ever drawing on it,,,as long as you don't draw on the cigar while toasting it keeping the cigar cap on or off really doesn't make me notice anything more.
