Dry Boxing?

I've never tried dry boxing cigars - in fact, I never heard of it until I read about it here.

Does dry boxing improve the flavor, the burn, both???

Is it worth doing? Does it work better with some cigars but not with others?

I generally store my cigars at 65%. During dry boxing, would I lower the level to 60%? And, about how long should a cigar be dry boxed before smoking?

Sorry about all the questions, but the idea of dry boxing is totally new to me.

Re: Dry Boxing?

Works well in areas/periods of high humidity. Some smokes do benefit more than others. Before I bought my super thick, perfect sealing box, I used to dry box some sticks. I'd put them in an older humi that had dried out to around 55-60% for a few days. Not long enough to lose any oils or for the wrapper to become brittle, but just enough so they stayed lit, burned evenly and drew easier.

Now that my box never dips below 67 and never exceeds 70%, I dont bother. On the rare occasion I dig out an ISOM stick, I still DB it for a few days. Those just want to be dryer.

Pretty much what he said.

Some benefit and some don't..its all personal prefrence..you can try and if you don't see a difference then no worries.

I don't dry box but my humi leaks and stays around 60-62%

Re: Dry Boxing?

Only reason to dry box is if a cigar is over humidified, and that is a problem to be solved in the first place.
