fixing a split cigar

Got a cigar from a friend... it got damaged during shipping. It is split kind of ... like the wrapper is open up the side. I tried to lick it shut ... then used gelatin .... and it doesn't work because it was wrapped tight ... and when it let go ... it expanded so there isn't enough wrapper to pull over the crack/split area.

Anyone have suggestions on how I can fix this cigar? I don't have any other cigars like it .... so I can't take a wrapper from another cigar ... without changing the taste.

It is a Don Pepin Garcia series JJ ... it is pretty fat at the end you light .... and it is split all the way up from the bottom .. where it is fatter. So.... I'm just wondering if there is a way to salvage this very nice cigar.

Re: fixing a split cigar

Go to the grocery store, to the canning and baked goods. Buy a box of Pectin liquid, and the powder. Moisten the wrapper that came undone. Using a flat toothpick, apply the pectin between the wrapper and the stick, wiping away the excess. That should fix it.

Pectin is what the use in rolling cigars. It is a vegetable paste. If the crack is too wide, make a thick paste out of the powder pectin and cover the crack.

Hope this helps.

Re: fixing a split cigar

Without taking a section of leaf from another cigar and with the split being as you described I have no idea how to repair it. Is the binder split as well? If so it won't smoke right no matter what the repair is.
