perfecto lighting
I have a newbie question. What is the proper lighting for a perfecto cigar? Do you have to cut both ends or just the head? I find if I just cut the head that the draw is tight untill an inch or so has been burnt off then it opens up. So any opinions on the matter would be great.

Re: perfecto lighting
That is normally what I do. Do a regular cut and the draw will lighten up shortly

Re: perfecto lighting
If it is closed on both ends then cut both ends, there are a few cigars like this. If the foot is open but just so small that the draw is tight then its totally up to you, if you don't want to wait then cut a little off. When it comes down to it, it is your cigar that you are smoking. So do what works best for you.

Re: perfecto lighting
I've experimented several times and have come to the conclusion for draw and especially tastes sake that you need to cut both ends.

Re: perfecto lighting
never cut both ends UNLESS both ends are capped off. Once lit, it should open up after about a 1/4".

One, small, wooden match. That's the whole beauty of the perfecto tip! In fact, I think I'll smoke one right now. ![]()

Re: perfecto lighting
I would have to agree, I never cut the perfecto if the foot is open, if its closed I only snip off a 1/8” or so and let it open as I smoke it.

Re: perfecto lighting
Sorry, I should have paid more attention to your OP. Once the burn ring makes it to the full ring guage of the cigar, you should have a good draw. If not, it's not about the perfecto tip, but rather more likely about moisture, or a plug somewhere. I say this, because "an inch" seems excessive for most perfectos I've seen.
