Replacement for Celebracion?
Hi. I have been searching for a regular cigar for a year, and stumbled on Joya de Nicaragua Celebracion. I absolutely loved it, (in all formats except Torpedo). Been smoking 4 a week. I have heard that because of the new cigar tax, this cigar is no longer going to be imported (Drew Estates was the distributor) and my cigar store is working off old inventory. Can anyone with knowledge of this cigar recommend similar replacements? It is similar to the new Davidoff Reserve R but half the price. I am hoping for a cigar no more than $7.

Re: Replacement for Celebracion?
When did Drew Estates start distributing them. I do not that that is correct, but I could be wrong.
What strength are you looking for? What wrapper?

Re: Replacement for Celebracion?
Welcome to this friendly place!
Sadly, DE bought the JdN band. This is the reason for all the unreasonable Casa Magna hype. It's intended to take over the JdN crew, of which I am a part. Casa Magna is a sorry excuse for a JdN Antano 1970. Try a CAO Brazillia Gol!

I was only getting one 'version' of Celebracion, details here on their site, link below Joya de Nicaragua Celebración Rated among the Best 25 cigars of 2004 by Cigar Aficionado, this is the perfect cigar for your special occasion. This medium-to-full bodied smoke starts with a rich spicy flavor and develops dynamically to include a coffee and nut overtone that adds a sweet, earthy element to mellow out the cigar. Covered by a beautiful, oily Colorado Claro wrapper, Celebración is a real puro with filler, binder and wrapper grown from Havana seed in different Nicaraguan regions. joyadenicaragua dot com dot ni forward slash c_cel dot html |

Re: Replacement for Celebracion?
I got a box of JdN Corona (I think thats the size, sumwhat longer tho) from a B&M at a Drew Estate night. Jonathan Drew himself was there. They are now a distributor of JdN after he was asked by the owner to help them out. He faniglled the draw and construction aspects. Great cigar for the money I believe. Great with a cup of CDM Chicory Coffee.

Re: Replacement for Celebracion?
I'm not trying to be a wiseass here but why not simply get a humidor, then buy several boxes NOW?? Buying a few at a time leaves you right at the mercy of exactly these sort of situations.
The Celebracion is one of my favorites. Have to buy a few more boxes I guess and stash them away. FN in MT |
