Much overlooked in this thread is that it apears spit&chew has had some past demonds in his life that he has aparently gotten under control. Much kudos to you sir for working out whatever bad place you were in and being strong enough to resist your temptations!

Thanks Joe. I really appreciate your comments. The pleasant surprise about this forum is the character of the people here. Cigars smokers are really a special kind of people.

Your experience is not singular. On Friday, I bought a selection of sticks to try, one of which was the Partagas series D No. 4. A highly rated stick, I couldn't even get through the first ash. Like a 15 yr. old, hacking and choking on his first taste of homegrown in the '70's (just imagining, that never happened to me ), I put it down.

WAY too strong for me. Re-lit it the next morning before a scooter ride and my head was still spinning.

This works for me and ymmv, but I usually revisit a cigar more than once before I give up on it. many of the conditions mentioned here before can come into play. Most times, not always, I find the cigar has a different taste.
Sometimes good, sometimes just as bad. Try them a couple of more times and then decide.
Both of those smokes are great, the '32 especially. But that's my taste.
I had an RP rosado today that left my head reeling. Go figure.

You are new to smoking, don't smoke very much, or sensitive to nicotine. It's a cigar, it shouldn't make you sick, give you a hangover, make you dizzy, or pass out. Smoke milder cigars, and work your way up. Have been smoking cigars almost 40 yrs, and can honestly say I have never been bothered by a cigar, even when I started, Maybe I just have a high nicotine tolerance.

Very lucky, I had a friend who passed out after smoking a CAO Brazilia. Now I'm too afraid to give non-smokers anything stronger than a mild cigar.
