Am I a wimp?

I bought a Padilla sampler a few weeks ago. They consisted of four each of 1932,1948 and some other number that will remain unremembered (not really a word but you get my point) right now because I don't feel like getting up to look.
Well I have smoked one 1948 and one 1932 so far. The nicotine buzz I got from both of these was way to strong for me. I mean I smoked the 1932 last night and this morning I'm still out of whack! I have not come close to this kind of thing with any other cigar I have smoked to date. I'm thinking I should get rid of these even though they taste wonderful. Will more time in the humi help?

Of course you're a wimp! Seriously, though, the effects a cigar have on you are not easily explained. A lot depends on the time day, when you last ate, what you had to eat, your general phsychological demeaner at the moment, etc... Yes, the cigar itself has an effect too. I tend to have lighter bodied smokes in the afternoon and fuller bodied ones after dinner...

What he said, plus that yes, aging will make the cigars milder, both in nicotine content and in taste.

Re: Am I a wimp?

Thanks for the comments guys.
Just to clarify. I smoked both of these after supper in the evening. I felt no buzz at all while smoking either one. About five minutes after I finished is when it hit me.

Re: Am I a wimp?

I got that sampler as well,,,the other is a 68 that you didn't remember,,,I like the 32 the best and depending on how long you have been smoking cigars there is a tolerance that will kick in after you have been smoking cigars for a bit. If you have been smoking cigars for awhile then you just might be predisposed to having a weakness of nicotine in your system,,,if so I would advise aging them for at least 6 months or choosing cigars that are mild to medium strength.

Re: Am I a wimp?

Hydration (you, not the cigar) plays the dominiant role in the effects of smoking and nicotine in your system. The idea of smoking after a good meal; having something substantial in your stomach, is a good one, but most of us don't take in enough water. It takes one ml of water per calorie in order to process. That means that for a typical 1000 calorie dinner, you need a liter of water just to process it. That doesn't account for keeping your body hydrated and keeping all cylinders firing. Smoking dehydrates you. Nicotine also deydrates you. Most of us enjoy our smokes with a nice, adult beverage... which also dehydrates you.

Point is, if youre still feeling the effects the next day, I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that youre dehydrated.

Re: Am I a wimp?

I am smoking a 32 Churchill as I type, and it is a not that strong. Eat first and don't be a wimp, or we will make you smoke a JdNA or Opus on an empty stomach. LOL

Oh yeah, right back atcha.

Re: Am I a wimp?

I think another role that plays a factor into this is the sugar levels in your system. I keep hearing that something sugary like a soda or choclate bar is a good fix for a nicotine buzz. I am on a no carb/no sugar diet and i can assure you that with no sugars in my system even a mild stick has given me a huge buzz and turned my stomach. But i find if i drink a nice rum and coke (diet coke for me) it battles the nicotine levels well and i usually dont get much of a buzz. On a day that im cheating and eating loads of sugary things i can smoke sticks back to back without even the slightest buzz.

My advice, eat a good meal, snack on a piece of chocolate, and sit down with a rum and coke for your smoke and see how it works out for ya.

OH NO not an Opus! Just don't waterboard me. Ha Ha

A little more info. I have been smoking for a bit now and have not had this happen with any other cigar. I have gotten a buzz but nothing like I got from these two Padilla's.
I am a sugar addict. i always smoke after supper. I have lost my right to consume adult beverages. If I drink I do drugs if I do drugs all bets are off. I can't drink safely today.
The dehydration sounds very legit to me. I do not drink enough water period.
A far as strength goes is there another cigar I could try that should give me similar results?
The puzzling part to all of this is I smoked these cigars for over an hour and never felt anything unusual. It didn't hit me until about five minutes after I finished.

The CIA has posted that a shipment of PCP laced padilla cigars headed to Havana has been lost in transport.

Sorry I've done PCP. It's not PCP. Now if it was Opiate laced or Cocaine laced you wouldn't hear a word from me. I'd be quietly buying up all Padilla's I could find. Heehee

My friend also had a history of drinking leading to drugs, etc. He went through treatment and now when someone asks him why he doesn't drink, he has the perfect response : "When I drink, I tend to break out in handcuffs." Always gets a laugh and people tend to bond more with him rather than backing away.

Yes, that could very well be it. I usually drink at least a pint of water with every stick I smoke. If I'm having coffee or alcohol with it, it usually becomes two pints of water. Although I quite often replace the water (especially if I'm not drinking anything else) with something sweet, like ice tea with sugar or a cola.

If you want a strong stick, try a Joya de Nicaragua Antanos. Even back in the days when I used to smoke cigarettes the smaller sizes left me with quite a buzz...
